{"author_name":"mtthwcmpbll","cat":"LD #19 - Discovery - 2010","comments":[],"epoch":1292526360,"likes":0,"metadata":{"p_key":"68795","p_author":"mtthwcmpbll","p_authorkey":"3178","p_urlkey":"104598","p_title":"I\u2019m in for LD #19","p_cat":"LD #19 - Discovery - 2010","p_event":"LD19","p_time":"1292526360","p_likes":"0","p_comments":"0","p_status":"UPD5","us_key":"3178","us_name":"mtthwcmpbll","us_username":"mtthwcmpbll","event_start":"1292544000","event_key":"5","event_name":"LD19"},"text":"<p>I&#8217;ll be trying my first ludum dare this weekend. \u00a0I&#8217;ve already made plans to go skiing for some of the day Saturday, but I&#8217;ll be devoting as much time as I can outside of that to the competition. \u00a0Other than a lot of coffee, I&#8217;m planning on using the following tools:<\/p>\n <p>Hardware: Macbook Pro, Wacom Tablet<\/p>\n <p>Game Engine, Languages, &amp; Tools: \u00a0Unity 3D using C#, MonoDevelop IDE<\/p>\n <p>Graphics &amp; Art: Corel Painter 10, Pixelmator, Pixen, Blender 2.5<\/p>\n <p>Music &amp; Audio: sfxr, Wolfram Tones for music, GarageBand, possibly MilkyTracker<\/p>\n <p>Libraries: \u00a0There are a lot of really useful libraries and tools over in the Unity showcase forums, as well as the newly released Asset Store. \u00a0I&#8217;d like to learn and use at least one of them over the weekend. \u00a0I really want to pick up and use <a href=\"http:\/\/www.anbsoft.com\/middleware\/sm2\/\">SpriteManager 2<\/a> as I&#8217;ll probably use in other non-compo projects, but I don&#8217;t think I can submit my source code if its included so we&#8217;ll see. \u00a0If I really want to use it, maybe I&#8217;ll move over to the Jam side of things instead. \u00a0I&#8217;ll take a look at the older open-source <a href=\"http:\/\/www.unifycommunity.com\/wiki\/index.php?title=SpriteManager\">SpriteManager 1<\/a> version as well to see if it will do enough for me. \u00a0If someone could comment on what the general rule of thumb is for using commercial libraries like this that disallow distribution in their license and how they&#8217;ve been used (or not used) in the past, that would help be super helpful.<\/p>\n <p>Anyways, this will be my first super-constrained gamedev event, so we&#8217;ll see how it goes. \u00a0My goal is just to get a concept all the way through to a playable proof of concept.<\/p>","time":"December 16th, 2010 2:06 pm","title":"I\u2019m in for LD #19"}
