A Runner game with a shapeshift ability? Too simple. A platformer where you turn into various enemies to kill others? Maybe but the art would had killed me. Then, it hit me…

I was at work and was filling up the water section of the drugstore where I work and was thinking about my other ideas when I drop a water jug and that got me thinking about something else. Or rather, how some other water product would had shattered under such a drop. One that has very interesting mechanic in the concept of a shapeshifting game: Oobleck.

Bleck (Tales of the living Oobleck)

Game Type: Puzzle-/Physics-based Platformer game

Player: The player controls Bleck, a living ball of Oobleck, that must make it out of the lab.

Mechanics: Depending on the level of acceleration imparted to Bleck, he will interact differently:

At low speed, Bleck deforms and is pushed around by the force. If falling, Bleck squashes and reforms.

At medium speed, Bleck hardens and can be knocked around by the force acting on him. If falling, Bleck bounces.

At high speed, Bleck shattered, dying. Bleck then respawns at the last checkpoint encountered.

While I say I won’t do this Jam, I might try to create a prototype tomorrow, depending on how I feel so that I can at least see if my idea would had been feasible in 3 days.

April 16th, 2016 9:52 pm
My idea"}
