{"author_name":"MrPhil","cat":"LD #16 - Exploration - 2009","comments":[],"epoch":1260726480,"likes":0,"metadata":{"p_key":"71880","p_author":"MrPhil","p_authorkey":"165","p_urlkey":"107702","p_title":"No hope","p_cat":"LD #16 - Exploration - 2009","p_event":"LD16","p_time":"1260726480","p_likes":"0","p_comments":"0","p_status":"UPD5","us_key":"165","us_name":"MrPhil","us_username":"mrphil","event_start":"1260489600","event_key":"2","event_name":"LD16"},"text":"<p style=\"text-align: left\">With 6.5 hours remaining I see no hope of finishing, much less ending up with a game that is fun.\u00a0\u00a0 Especially because I have a dinner party, so I can&#8217;t even use the full amount of time.\u00a0 That&#8217;s my fault, I thought I could squeeze it in.\u00a0 I&#8217;ll try to remember not to next time.\u00a0 Maybe my idea was too big, but I also lost time because I was using a new technology (something I always do.)\u00a0\u00a0 So, I&#8217;m always building stuff from scratch and fighting with the tech&#8217;s esoteric unexpected differences (like HaXe switch statements not needing breaks, Uhggg.)\u00a0 I was very happy with HaXe and think it is my new top choice for game making.\u00a0 Now, I need to invest time building up a toolbox (toolkit) of code to use in the future.\u00a0 I feel like I got further along than in past.\u00a0 Even though my LD12 was an actual finished and fun game, I created way more functionality this time.\u00a0 I think the planning and the hands-on prototype really help identify the tasks.\u00a0 The hands-on prototype was a very interesting experience.\u00a0 I am surprised by how hard it is to express a games rules.\u00a0 I now desire a box full of game parts to play with in the future.\u00a0 Not finishing is very unsatisfying,\u00a0 but the silver lining is I learned a lot and that is really the whole point.<\/p>\n <p style=\"text-align: left\">Thanks Ludum Dare!
