{"author_name":"Jpfed","cat":"LD #14 - Advancing Wall of Doom - 2009","comments":[],"epoch":1240150320,"likes":0,"metadata":{"p_key":"73529","p_author":"Jpfed","p_authorkey":"786","p_urlkey":"109351","p_title":"Crusher moving inexorably forward","p_cat":"LD #14 - Advancing Wall of Doom - 2009","p_event":"LD14","p_time":"1240150320","p_likes":"0","p_comments":"0","p_status":"UPD5","us_key":"786","us_name":"Jpfed","us_username":"jpfed","event_start":"1239926400","event_key":"90","event_name":"LD14"},"text":"<p>So it&#8217;s animated and playable.\u00a0 I&#8217;m not sure how well the concept actually works as a game, for a few reasons.\u00a0 The whole idea of &#8220;everyone declares their attacks and then they are executed simultaneously&#8221; is interesting, but it doesn&#8217;t fit into any preexisting molds in my brain.<\/p>\n <p>In terms of how the game plays, there&#8217;s so much surface area between players that it feels limiting that you can only move one piece at a time.\u00a0 Currently, the (dumb) AI opponent can deal with the situation and put up a reasonable fight, but if I make it so that people can input more than one move per turn it will complicate the user interface and I don&#8217;t think the &#8220;AI&#8221; could cope with the change.<\/p>\n <p>I wrote music late last night, and while it works on its own as music it&#8217;s really not appropriate for the game.\u00a0 I should do the sound effects first, then come back to the music with a fresh approach.<\/p>\n <p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ludumdare.com\/compo\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/04\/crusher2.png\"><img class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-5523\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ludumdare.com\/compo\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/04\/crusher2-300x225.png\" alt=\"Everything\\'s pretty much working but the audio\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/ludumdare.com\/compo\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/04\/crusher2-300x225.png 300w, http:\/\/ludumdare.com\/compo\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/04\/crusher2.png 800w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n <p>Everything&#8217;s too dark and drab.\u00a0 I should make one of the tile types a little brighter for contrast.<\/p>","time":"April 19th, 2009 9:12 am","title":"Crusher moving inexorably forward"}
