{"author_name":"kutani","cat":"LD #12 - The Tower - 2008","comments":[{"author_name":"adamzap","time":"August 9, 2008 8:44 am","epoch":1218289440,"text":"Hooray for Slackware and Vim","spam":"N"}],"epoch":1218289380,"likes":0,"metadata":{"p_key":"74787","p_author":"kutani","p_authorkey":"510596","p_urlkey":"110619","p_title":"Some notes on progress and other crap\u2026","p_cat":"LD #12 - The Tower - 2008","p_event":"LD12","p_time":"1218289380","p_likes":"0","p_comments":"1","p_status":"UPD5","us_key":"510596","us_name":"kutani","us_username":"kutani","event_start":"1218153600","event_key":"89","event_name":"LD12"},"text":"<p>After a nice night of sleep (8 hours yay), I&#8217;ve started actual coding.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve got most of my data structs and whatnot done, handling for those etc.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve got my general design in my head and my checklist written out in a text file.\u00a0 Milestone 1 will be getting a screen with all basic elements displaying.\u00a0 I&#8217;m aiming to have this hopefully no later than 5PM tonight, but we&#8217;ll see.\u00a0 Nothing with screenshotting yet, so no screenshots.\u00a0 I may post a pic of my workspace later when I get access to my roommates digicam.<\/p>\n <p>I&#8217;m hoping what I&#8217;m working on will in fact be interesting enough to play; I have been dubious.\u00a0 It&#8217;s a tough theme since there have been SO DAMNED MANY tower-themed games made over the years.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve got a backup idea if this one doesn&#8217;t pan out, but it may come down to the wire if I have to run with that one.<\/p>\n <p>Some specs of my work environment:<\/p>\n <p>Lenovo Thinkpad T61, 2.4 Core2 Duo, 1GB mem<\/p>\n <p>Slackware 12.1<\/p>\n <p>XFCE4 for my wm, though I am more partial to e16 usually<\/p>\n <p>Straight-up C for language<\/p>\n <p>vim for editing<\/p>\n <p>GIMP for graphics<\/p>\n <p>Probably sfxr for audio, though I may get fancy with my guitar if I have time<\/p>\n <p>I also have a tower with a tri-boot Slackware 12\/WindowsXP\/Debian64 setup; I&#8217;ll be using it for judging games that I can only run on Windows, so I don&#8217;t have to screw around with wine.<\/p>\n <p>I&#8217;m using the allegro lib for most everything; I don&#8217;t need anything special so it works fine.<\/p>\n <p>More later!<\/p>","time":"August 9th, 2008 8:43 am","title":"Some notes on progress and other crap\u2026"}
