Ladies and gentlemen, girls and boys, this \u2014 is Ludum Dare 15<\/strong>.\u00a0 The big one-five.\u00a0 And talk about<\/em> big.<\/p>\n

We have many many<\/strong> new things to share with you today, so read this post carefully<\/strong><\/span>.<\/p>\n

New website look and Avatars<\/h2>\n

You\u2019re seeing it right now.\u00a0 A shiny new theme to compliment the shiny new version of WordPress.\u00a0 And after some web hackery, we also have Avatars (i.e. gravitars).<\/p>\n

To set your little picture, you need to sign up at www.gravatar.com<\/a>.\u00a0 Gravatars follow you around on all the wordpress blogs you post on, by hashing your e-mail address.\u00a0 So all you should need to do is sign up at both sites (ludumdare.com\/compo, and gravatar.com) using the same e-mail address.\u00a0 Easy.<\/p>\n

New Submission System<\/h2>\n

We have a brand new submission system.\u00a0 Gone are the days of \u201cFinal\u201d tags and confusing image upload problems (that I usually end up fixing).\u00a0 Now we have a lovely brand new streamlined entry submission system put together by everyone\u2019s favorite philhassey, Mr. Phil Hassey<\/a>.\u00a0 When you\u2019re ready to submit your entry, hit this page.<\/p>\n

NOTE2:<\/strong><\/span> Please only create an entry once you have a download ready.\u00a0 You are not<\/strong> required to declare your intent to enter.\u00a0 Just show up, sign up, and submit once you\u2019re done.<\/p>\n

Keynote Address<\/h2>\n

That\u2019s right.\u00a0 What better way to say Ludum Dare 15 is a big deal than to say it in recorded digital video.\u00a0 So without further ado, check out the Ludum Dare 15 keynote address with Mike Hommel<\/a> (hamumu).<\/p>\n

Voting Categories<\/h2>\n

We\u2019ve gone ahead and refined the voting categories for the competition.\u00a0 They are as follows.<\/p>\n

Innovation<\/strong> \u2013 How interesting, original or unique an entry is.\nFun<\/strong> \u2013 Unique yes, but is it actually enjoyable?\nTheme<\/strong> \u2013 Good, clever, or interesting uses of the theme.\nGraphics<\/strong> \u2013 Is it pretty?\nAudio<\/strong> \u2013 Does it sound nice?\nHumor<\/strong> \u2013 Does the game amuse you. The concept, the presentation, etc.\nOverall<\/strong> \u2013 Do you love it?\nCommunity<\/strong> \u2013 Journaling, sharing workspace photos, meal photos, motivational posters, recorded a timelapse video, etc.\u00a0 How well did they tastefully<\/em> go above and beyond to participate, as well as tell and show you what they did?<\/p>\n

Coolness<\/strong> (i.e. Voting) \u2013 This isn\u2019t actually a category you\u2019re voted on.\u00a0 Rather, it reflects how well you voted on entries during the voting phase.\u00a0 People that play and vote for 25%, 50%, and 75%+ of the entries get awarded bronze, silver and gold icon medals in the coolness category.<\/p>\n

More Stuff<\/h2>\n

You can join us in IRC.\u00a0 #ludumdare<\/strong> on irc.afternet.org<\/strong><\/a>.\u00a0 You should be able to find more than a few people to answer your questions there throughout the weekend.<\/p>\n

We have some common tags for types of posts. deskphoto<\/a><\/strong> for pictures of where you work. foodphoto<\/a><\/strong> for pictures of your meals. motivation<\/a><\/strong> for silly motivational posters you decide to make. timelapse<\/a><\/strong> for timelapse videos. Try to use those so people can more easily browse them.<\/p>\n

Seth<\/a> (mrfun) fixed the World Map<\/a> (*cough*\u2026 that I broke).\u00a0 You can\u00a0 see where people around the world are entering from, and add yourself.\u00a0 In addition, we collect humorous quotes from IRC throughout competitions and the off time.\u00a0 We\u2019re adults, so some of the things said may not be suitable for minors.\u00a0 Those you can check out here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

We do mini Ludum Dare competitions in the off months.\u00a0 Veterans take a month, pick a weekend, and provide a theme.\u00a0 Check back regularly to catch the latest Mini LD.<\/p>\n
