As always\u2026these are MY opinions, you may or may not agree, but I feel these games could use some attention as I feel that they \u201cstand out\u201d from the crowd.\u00a0 As per usual\u2026no particular order.<\/p>\n
Asylum<\/a> By Orni:<\/strong> A good take on the theme, fluid controls, art style isn\u2019t my favorite but it works ok.\u00a0 A little slow paced at first and somewhat short but it left the correct \u201cfeeling\u201d behind when done.<\/p>\n It\u2019s a tiny world<\/a> By\u00a0Endurion:<\/strong> A clever and fun \u201csingle screen\u201d roguelike.\u00a0 Though I think it stretches the theme a bit this title definitely deserves a mention simply because\u2026it\u2019s really fun! (and that\u2019s what games are supposed to be at their core, when you strip all the excess from them)<\/p>\n Memento XII<\/a> By deepnight:<\/strong> A little point & click adventure game, great style and atmosphere, though a little frustrating at times figuring out what you can or cannot click on.\u00a0 Not a fan of the audio but well worth mentioning.<\/p>\n Bottlecolonies<\/a> By tcstyle :<\/strong> A clever little strategy\/puzzle\u00a0 game, the art direction is great, the sound both fitting and awesome, and the gameplay itself is solid and complete\u2026a joy to play<\/p>\n Nanofactory<\/a> By\u00a0JustinMullin:<\/strong> A solid puzzle game about a nanobot assembling widgets, a little hard and cryptic at first but the puzzles are both simple and clever<\/p>\n ANT SURF HERO: THE SURFENING<\/a> By\u00a0Jigxor:\u00a0<\/strong> A refreshing change from the massive number of dull uninspired platformers,\u00a0 aside from a few physics issues it\u2019s really fun,\u00a0 and riding on top of the ant is amusing to say the least.<\/p>\n Housefly<\/a> By\u00a0dacap:<\/strong> You play as a fly on a mission: to get back outside!\u00a0 It\u2019s a short but very immersive adventure game with solid controls, great visuals and sound\u2026its hard to describe but the flight control feels \u201cright\u201d for a fly. Very fun.<\/p>\n Recluse<\/a> By\u00a0chambers:<\/strong> You play as a snail with a neckbeard in a \u201cmetroidvania\u201d type game\u2026.but with a twist.\u00a0 Easy 5\/5 for innovation personally, I don\u2019t want to ruin it by the starting room is misleading and it quickly introduces one of the most unique gameplay mechanics i\u2019ve ever seen. (even if it is mostly a gimmick\u2026it fits the theme very well)<\/p>\n Hero of Rain<\/a> By\u00a031eee384:<\/strong> Extremely incomplete but what there is of it is very enjoyable, the story is both fitting and interesting, the gameplay is for the most part pretty good (though touchy at parts). All around a good feel to this game.<\/p>\n Fusion Time!<\/a> By NeiloGD:<\/strong> A simple but solid arcade-type game where you fuse atoms in a sun.\u00a0 Theres not much too it but the explosions and strategy of timing the fusing makes it surprisingly fun to play.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n Honorable Mentions:<\/strong> Things under here are games that did very well in some areas but poorly in others, so they don\u2019t really hit my \u201cbest of\u201d list but they\u2019re worth mentioning for other reasons.<\/p>\n Tiny Island Adventure<\/a> By\u00a0AdventureIslands:<\/strong> This game has EXCEPTIONAL artwork and is a fresh take on the theme.\u00a0 Don\u2019t get me wrong, I love this game, but unfortunately it has some pretty bad control issues and the levels were a bit uninteresting.\u00a0 Kept it from being in my \u201ctop\u201d overall\u00a0 picks but still worth a look, and IMHO could very well take the gold for \u201cgraphics\u201d<\/p>\n Gale Axile<\/a> By free_napalm:<\/strong> This game has some very clever gameplay mechanics, and is EXTREMELY innovative. It was definitely a refreshing break from the zillion and first back-to-back \u201cplanet defender\u201d game played.\u00a0 While I like it and the mechanics are unique it unfortunately has a big problem for me\u2026the outcome is so random and the gameplay is so tedious that it\u2019s just not very fun as is\u2026though with a little work post-compo it could be a VERY good game.<\/p>\n Green Invasion<\/a> By Kableado:<\/strong> The art in this game is FANTASTIC to say the least, it really is great. Unfortunately\u2026that\u2019s all there is to it, as a game it\u2019s incomplete, there\u2019s absolutely no gameplay implemented, no real sound, no goal.<\/p>\n Predicament<\/a> By orangepascal:<\/strong> Again, another game with very good artwork, if a little TOO pixelated making it sometimes hard to see.\u00a0 It\u2019s a somewhat innovative mini-advanture game.\u00a0 Unfortunately though the controls can be a little frustrating and the lack of any sort of ambient sound took away from it somewhat.<\/p>\n Mayor vs Aliens<\/a> By Sheep:<\/strong> Very innovative, very funny, easily one of the best takes on the theme I\u2019ve seen. The gameplay is ok but not great, the controls are a little stiff, and it\u2019s wayyy too easy, you can pretty much defend indefinitely since they always go straight up the middle after taking the dirt.<\/p>\n Mini-Worlds and Monocles<\/a> By Zed:<\/strong> VERY good sound in this game, one of the best.\u00a0 Aside from that not much to talk about\u2026it\u2019s not \u201cbad\u201d but it\u2019s really just another in a long line of generic \u201cpick up the coin, move to next level\u201d platformers.\u00a0 Not very innovative and the jump controls are pretty frustratingly bad.\u00a0 Still worth mentioning for it\u2019s audio and humor though.<\/p>\n
