{"assets":[],"author_link":"author\/uhfgood\/","author_name":"Uhfgood","cat":"October Challenge 2012","categories":["October Challenge 2012"],"comments":[],"epoch":1349104500,"event":"","likes":5,"metadata":{"p_key":"78026","p_author":"Uhfgood","p_authorkey":"0","p_urlkey":"287036","p_title":"My October Challenge for 2012","p_cat":"October Challenge 2012","p_event":"LD24","p_time":"1349104500","p_likes":"5","p_comments":"0","p_status":"WAYBACK","us_key":null,"us_name":null,"us_username":null,"event_start":"1345766400","event_key":"12","event_name":"LD24"},"source_url":"2012\/10\/01\/my-october-challenge-for-2012\/","text":"<p>Some of you guys know my record of finishing things.\u00a0 Right now I\u2019m working on a Sonic the Hedgehog style platformer.\u00a0 Now it might take 6 \u2013 12 months to get this thing done, so it might not be until October Challenge 2013 that I get anything to sell for a buck.\u00a0 I have a good chance of at least getting first playable by the end of this October, and I might could even possibly squeeze an alpha in by then, so I have a challenge for you Ludum-darians \u2014 I\u2019m going to bet you $1 that I can get up to alpha version of my game by the end of October.\u00a0 If I manage this, you send me $1 via paypal, and if I don\u2019t I send YOU $1 via paypal.\u00a0\u00a0 So basically I get an incentive to get off my butt and get a game done sooner than I might normally.\u00a0\u00a0 I get a finished playable\/sellable game.\u00a0 I get your respect (well maybe \u2014 I just mean if I finish something you guys might have a little more respect for me).\u00a0 If I win I get a buck and win the October challenge.\u00a0 YOU get someone participating in LD\u2019s October Challenge, you get a great game that\u2019s actually finished, and if I don\u2019t get to alpha stage, YOU get a whole dollar (US, and paypal only).\u00a0 So no matter what happens it\u2019s a win\/win!\u00a0 And to sweeten the pot everyone who bets gets a copy of the finished game, no matter if you win or I win.\u00a0 (What it will mean is if I win you get a great game for a buck, if you win you will get a great game for free and you will get a buck <img alt=\":-)\" class=\"wp-smiley\" src=\"http:\/\/ludumdare.com\/compo\/wp-includes\/images\/smilies\/simple-smile.png\" style=\"height: 1em; max-height: 1em;\"\/><\/p>\n<p>So what do you say?<\/p>\n<p>P.S.<\/p>\n<p>Some people suggested they might bet a dollar if I came up with a list of items to complete for this alpha to be completed.<\/p>\n<p>Well let\u2019s see \u2014<\/p>\n<p>full game map created with layout graphics (meaning triangles and boxes and stuff to layout the places Flash can run)<\/p>\n<p>Collision including walking up and down slopes and using momentum to go around loops.<\/p>\n<p>Enemies<\/p>\n<p>Enemy attacks<\/p>\n<p>Powerups<\/p>\n<p>Logical map flipping<\/p>\n<p>Boss round\/level<\/p>\n<p>bonus levels<\/p>\n<p>I think that about does it, no sound effects or music, and only the basic of graphics \u2014 just enough to get the point across.<\/p>\n<p>pps.\u00a0 If you want to take the \u201cbet\u201d please leave a comment below to make it \u201cofficial\u201d <img alt=\":-)\" class=\"wp-smiley\" src=\"http:\/\/ludumdare.com\/compo\/wp-includes\/images\/smilies\/simple-smile.png\" style=\"height: 1em; max-height: 1em;\"\/><\/p>\n<p>ppps.
