Which of course ment massive hangovers with all teammember <img alt=\";)\" class=\"wp-smiley\" src=\"http:\/\/ludumdare.com\/compo\/wp-includes\/images\/smilies\/icon_wink.gif\"\/><\/div>\n<p>Like last time, our team was 6 people, two of them working on graphics.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><strong>Finding a look, part 1 :<\/strong><\/div>\n<div>Last time we could make an art test before we started working on the actual graphics.<\/div>\n<div>This time we originally planned to use a technique involving crayons and an iron ( I spare you the<\/div>\n<div>details ), but had no real time to test it properly.<\/div>\n<div>It didn\u2019t look appealing enough,so by late saturday, we had to completely re-orient the style.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><strong>Lesson learned :\u00a0<\/strong><\/div>\n<div>Know what you can achieve using a technique, there\u2019s little room for experimentation to get a<\/div>\n<div>difficult look right if you\u2019re new to the technique.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><strong>Finding a look, part 2 :<\/strong><\/div>\n<div>\n<div class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\" style=\"width: 732px\"><img alt=\"\" height=\"358\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ludumdare.com\/compo\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/styleframe.jpg\" width=\"722\"\/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">This was the final styleframe we arrived at<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>After some time fiddling around in 3dsmax we arrived at some very lowpoly crystaline structures.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>We worked till very early in the morning to design and model the character models and getting a<\/div>\n<div>style frame to look right.<\/div>\n<div>The Style heavily used post effects, but we were using the indie version of unity, planning<\/div>\n<div>to install the pro trial later on to add those finishing touches. But that never happened due to<\/div>\n<div>time constraints, so the game is missing some of the eye candy.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<div class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\" style=\"width: 586px\"><img alt=\"\" height=\"344\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ludumdare.com\/compo\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/evolution_of_characters.jpg\" width=\"576\"\/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Some concept iterations while we worked on the characters<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><strong>Lesson learned :<\/strong><\/div>\n<div>If something is incremental for the look, don\u2019t treat it like the thing you can switch on quickly later,<\/div>\n<div>because later, there might not be time left.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><strong>Workflow :<\/strong><\/div>\n<div>We had no idea how to work with unity collaboratively. So there was some constant back and forth where<\/div>\n<div>we had to stall the coding or level design process to get assets integrated or to tweak little things.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><strong>Lesson learned :<\/strong><\/div>\n<div>If you work with a specific engine, figure out a way how to effortlessly work together with<\/div>\n<div>several people at the same time. It\u2019s very good to controll the entire process from creation to<\/div>\n<div>final integration the asset.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<div class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\" style=\"width: 586px\"><img alt=\"\" height=\"360\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ludumdare.com\/compo\/wp-content\/compo2\/308734\/25793-shot1.jpg\" width=\"576\"\/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">This it how it looked like in the end :)<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>But what went right, was that we got something decent together.
