Last weekend was a tough one, I\u2019m going to explain y\u2019all about it, but since it\u2019s almost Christmas I\u2019ll say it in a poetic way:<\/p>\n

One day, little Rodrigo was lying on his bed,\nout of his shirt, there was his tummy,\nit was growing fat \u2018cus of the french bread,\nhe is surely turning chubby.<\/p>\n

After minutes of scrolling he saw a mail\n\u201cOh shit! A Ludum Dare jam!\u201d<\/em>\u00a0said after looking his phone\nI think it\u2019s a good time to make a game,\nthank God it begins just when I get home.<\/p>\n

He gets ready for the event one day before,\nGrabs-n-picks two bottles\u2013four liters of Coke,\nhe pays and gets out of the store,\n\u201cMan, this is so much, I\u2019m surely going to choke!\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

He goes on his way, exhausted, for all he had to carry,\na computer, books, clothes and bottles of Coke,\nhe took the bus and walked through a forest that was scary,\n\u201cIt\u2019s creepy, really! I\u2019m doing this at nine PM! This is not a joke\u2026\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\u2026Well, actually it\u2019s because he\u2019s a pussy,\nbut when he crosses that road he gets pride:\nhe does fourty minutes of bus and thirty of bus, not that cushy.\nAfter walking with his stuff he finally gets to arrive.<\/p>\n

He puts evertything in order to get ready and takes a photo \u2018cus he\u2019s a wench,\nfinds out that the jam begins at three AM for him,\n\u201cGee, that\u2019s what I get for trying to be french,<\/em>\nwell, I should begin with energy so I should go to sleep\u201d.<\/em><\/p>\n

Nevermind because he had a dinner that he had to attend,\n\u201cCrap, something always turns up when I have to jam!\u201d<\/em>\nHe goes and always looked to his watch, until the end.\n\u201cFuck\u2026 I need to sleep because of how tired I am\u2026\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

The moment finally comes but he still sleeps like a champ,\nit\u2019s past three AM, but he is still tuck\neventually, from nowhere, on his leg, he gets a cramp\n\u201cAaaaaghhh! What the hell?! It hurts! Fuck!\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

After crying like a bitch, he manages to climb,\nhe reaches his watch that was on his right,\n\u201cIt\u2019s already six AM! Look at the time!\u201d<\/em>\nSo he just runs to his computer and logs to the site.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou Only Get One\u2026\u201d<\/em>\nThe jam theme was finally announed, as it said one sign.\n\u201cWow, you guys really chose stupid shit for a jam\u201d<\/em>\nHe had to hurry to think for a game to design.<\/p>\n

He takes a shower, washes his hair and dick.\n\u201cWhat am I supossed to do?\u201d<\/em>\nHe tought something really bad, really,\nand he tought something further as he drew.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou only get one\u2026. soldier?\u201d<\/em>\nEven he knew that the idea was crappy.\nHe began the project and saved it on a folder.\nIt was bad, but didn\u2019t matter \u2018cus it made him happy.<\/p>\n

Cokes down,\ncodes up,\nhe used new tricks that he learned by playing around,\nworked nonstop until he finished his cup.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

One day goes,\nthe other one is on, stressed as fuck,\nhe wore the same clothes,\nI think they even had muck.<\/p>\n

After testing his game, without knowing why, it crashes,\n\u201cNo, no, NO! What the hell?!<\/em>\nAll I\u2019ve made is going to be trashed!\u201d<\/em>\nThe faggot was so mad that he began to yell.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

After toying around he fixes it on a whack,\n\u201cI don\u2019t even know how\u201d<\/em>\nIt\u2019s okay now, but he almost had a heart attack.\n\u201cI feel like the best coder right now\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

After a while more he finishes,\n\u201cI can\u2019t feel my brain\u2026.\u201d<\/em>\nHe has to take a shower \u2018cus he smells like the fishes.\n\u201cIt was a pain, but good as hell! I\u2019ll do this again\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Even if you understood or not, that was my experience through the Ludum Dare 28 jam. It\u2019s the first jam game that I can consider \u201cnot a complete piece of crap\u201d and I\u2019m really happy about it.<\/p>\n

Eeeh, eh\u2026\u00a0ENOUGH GAY RHYMES, PLEASE, AND LET\u2019S\u00a0TALK ABOUT THE DAMN GAME ALREADY. CAN WE?<\/strong><\/p>\n

So, again, this is a game entry for the\u00a0Ludum Dare<\/a>\u00a028 game jam, a challenge where you or any other developer struggles to create a game with a selected theme in less than 48 hours. This jam\u2019s theme was \u201cYou Only Get One\u201d\u2026 Really? I\u2019m so pissed by how closed this theme was, and I\u2019m not taking just for myself, you should have seen Twitter at that moment.<\/p>\n

\"\"\nMy work place, btw\u2026<\/p>\n

Anyways, I worked on a little title called \u201cOne Man Army\u201d, which appeals to the jam\u2019s theme as \u201cYou Only Get One\u2026 Soldier!\u201d To me, the idea of one soldier versus a whole army isn\u2019t that bad, but when you put it into a game\u2026 it\u2019s very clich\u00e9.<\/p>\n

You can\u2019t learn much about the game\u2019s story because I didn\u2019t have enough time to put it into the game. So let me tell you a little about it:<\/p>\n

The game takes place on a country called Republic of Chekolosgeria, which is in war. The only problem is that they only have one soldier (giggle), so these folks right here, the Doctor and the General take their only soldier, Duffy, and convert him into a super soldier\u2026 Duffus!<\/p>\n

\"\"\nSmart-ass, award-winning idea. About the gameplay, it was going to be completely different, but then I changed my mind during the development of it. Right now it looks like this:<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Basically, all you have to do is slap the enemy soldiers so the burst and explode all their body parts.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m so happy with how it ended looking. I knew the explosions and body parts flying around was a very important thing to add to the game so I had to learn how to use physics. Yep, that\u2019s the first time I ever used physics on a game and it probably took me more than half day to just make the physics.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a great thing to have on any of your games, remember:\u00a0your game can never have enough particles<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
