Many people were combining all sorts of games. Being the unstable and brave soul that I am, I combined THE most incompatible game types: a board game with a platformer. Just imagine if you took the card, dice, and style of one of your childhood board games and then mixed it up with something like a time pressure platformer of the 1990s... what would you get?\n\nYou'd get Platboarder!\n\nSince that jam, the idea kept recurring in my head and I was thinking, \"There might be something to this. Maybe?\" So, recently, I presented the game to a new, indie studio startup and it was released as a short, casual and family friendly indie game on Steam.\n\nWhile the game is up in its basic form, we are 100% adding a lot more levels, more board mechanics, new cards, and most importantly... a level\/campaign Editor which will allow people to torture their friends and family-alike with custom campaigns.\n\nThe game is just a couple bucks, and buying it will give me space to continue developing features in the long term, beyond the next update (which will be the level editor and a couple new mechanics). I'd really like to see how far I can take this particular game-- it's such a dumb idea, but I absolutely love it.\n\nAlso, while the game is designed to 'push' you and make you feel 'intensity' to get through each level, I made sure it can also be configured to be a super chill untimed leisure game, suitable to entertain even children of all ages.\n\nAlso, I hope you fall in love with our adorable little board pawn.\n\nhttps:\/\/store.steampowered.com\/app\/2050210\/Platboarder\/\n\n","scope":"public","node-timestamp":"2023-07-19T18:46:23Z","meta":[],"path":"\/events\/ludum-dare\/53\/$342498\/way-back-from-ludum-53-to-steam","parents":[1,5,9,332127,342498],"files":[],"files-timestamp":0,"love":8,"love-timestamp":"2023-08-23T09:55:27Z","comments":8,"comments-timestamp":"2023-08-13T06:48:48Z","_wayback":{"timestamp":"20230824185607","url":"https:\/\/api.ldjam.com\/vx\/node2\/get\/371422+321747+371420+371419+371416+371415+371413+371411+371410+371408?author&parent&superparent"}},"node_metadata":{"n_key":"371416","n_urlkey":"294996","n_parent":"342498","n_path":"\/events\/ludum-dare\/53\/$342498\/way-back-from-ludum-53-to-steam","n_slug":"way-back-from-ludum-53-to-steam","n_type":"post","n_subtype":"","n_subsubtype":"","n_author":"42641","n_created":"1689790022","n_modified":"1692784527","n_version":"1148508","n_status":"WAYBACK"},"source_url":"https:\/\/ldjam.com\/events\/ludum-dare\/53\/$342498\/way-back-from-ludum-53-to-steam","text":"Way back when, in LD53 there was a jam with the theme \"combine two incompatible game genres\".
