Biomaria - Game Concept and Mechanics

Biomaria: Single player game You create a powerful collection of bacteria called a biofilm The biofilm is based on a collection of various bacterium

The structure of the biofilm is shown in a grid The first bacteria is always centered in the grid Add available bacteria by buying them with Quorum points Add bacteria to biofilm by clicking on a grid box that is next to any existing bacteria Gain quorum points by consuming other bacteria and biofilms

Scenes: Bacteria builder, grid based bacteria editor Colonize: Allows the bacteria to interact with the world, gain points

Bouts are timed sequence of 2 minutes of gathering and defending with the bacteria in the colonize scene. Enemies in the scene are there to be collected, and a few are built from similar parts as the player, according to pre-built designs, and they will also try to kill the player.

If a part of a biofilm is severed from the initial cell, it floats away, this way, it’s possible to be reduced to nothing.

When a biofilm eats, it regenerates cells that are part of it, starting with whatever is closest to the first part.

If there are no bacteria to regenerate, it increases its quorum points.

Bacteria types: Basic: Has mouth, cillia to propel, stores energy, not tough Attack: Has large mouth and spikes Stomach: Stores Energy with extra mitochondria Wall: Is tough Propeller: Has a long propeller style whip thing Dart: Has a dart that it can send into another cell
