I hit a rough patch earlier today, but finally broke through over the last several hours. Planets now have atmospheres, and show an indicator of their atmosphere and gravity well. Also just added the mini-tutorial you can see in the GIF, and I believe I've got a solid gameplay flow idea in my head. I think this is going pretty well!
