What went right and what went wrong (part 2)
Part 1 over here. Read it first, and even through this is only two paragraphs I do spoil some parts of the game so you may want to play it before you read this.
Many of the models and materials I think turned out all right. I won't comment on the trees because those are nearly default ripped straight from a blender plugin, but everything else was done by hand just using photo references. The grass turned out better than I thought it would. The vase looks like it's ceramic, the hardboiled eggs have a nice shine to them, as does the apple. The saucepan looks metalic and like a saucepan. The Jerry Can looks like a Jerry Can. The ladder, walkway, table, and hotplate are all passable, but I'm glad I was able to make the coils on the hotplate glow when it's turned on.
I think that the level design is decent. I was able to play around with some of the ideas that are only really possible in a hypercube, like if you keep going down from the starting room you eventually loop back around to the starting room. Or if you go in one straight line from one room to the next you will eventually loop around. There was also the idea of you needing to enter a room from a certain door to get what you needed, something I'm glad I gave myself the time to implement.
