Music and Mood go Hand in Hand
Music in games is a really big part! Whether you be driving around in cars, or flying around destroying planets, or hacking into the mainframe, music makes a big part in video games!
I know this is Ludum Dare, and we only had a weekend to make our games, so of course Music wouldn't be a top priority. Stuff like gameplay, innovation, and fun/graphics would probably be the best.
Halfway through my Ludum Dare game, I realized there was no way I would have time to finish. So instead of targeting gameplay with a cool fighting mechanic, I targeted 2 things: Mood and Audio.
The results are Kanjo, which I'm not asking you to rate (you don't have to if you want to, but if you really want, check it out!)
What emerged, was a sorry excuse for a game. There was no real gameplay, and the fighting mechanic was half complete, and so I had to scrap what remained.
But the music was ok :) https://soundcloud.com/flygamer101/sets/kanjo-soundtrack
If i had to say listen to only one song, definitely Tranquil.
I made a few tracks this time, but only a few stuck out to me. In total I must have spent around 5-10 hours on music, which is big in comparison to my normal 1 or 2 hours on it.
The story in my game itself isn't too bad either.
So I guess what I'm trying to say is 1. Music and mood go together, and they both compliment one another 2. Check out my games soundtrack!
Thanks (and sorry for even more shameless self-promotion xD)
