Entries You Might Not Have Tried
Hey everyone, here's a concise list of a few hand-picked entries (both Jam and Compo) that I personally liked but have had less exposure than the many popular entries. I see that most lists consist of games that are great but also viewed many times. So my goal is to give you the neat games you probably haven't seen yet!
Enjoy and comment your own entries or personal recommendations (I might consider a part two)...
Disclaimer: These six games (when writing) have < 15 comments; they aren't perfect but you might like one of them
Higher Ground
@landosystems, @doug-graham, @mecubed, @moshen, @bainerd
"Guide the natives to Higher Ground mountain within 70 turns clock before they get flooded out."
- Turn-based resource management/survival game... encourages lots of planning. Worth a shot!
Acquaintances
@rodrigonietiedt, @gustavo, @henrique-manfroi, @spig
"Acquaintances is a game where you must recognize and find an old friend."
- Short but funny memory game. Don't judge it by the screenshot... it plays well.
Krilgor
@sheepolution
"Krilgor is small. He’s so small that you need a magnifying glass to see him."
- Top down adventure with neat restrictions on what you can see of the world. It's got good humor!
Asymmetry
@chuigum
"Asymmetry is a top-down shoot-em-up game, with something a little special added to it."
- Run 'n gun mayhem... the twist is interesting and experimental.
Critter
@skruffye, @leftright92
"Critter has you caring for the needs of a small animal on a small world. The actions of the critter itself are beyond your control, but the power of the elements is yours to command."
- The elements can be used to "craft" biomes that allow the critter to survive. It doesn't have a great tutorial in the Jam version but it's not hard to figure out after a few tries. (Temperature is important!)
The Tiny Astronaut
@jsjdev
"Explore tiny planets as a tiny astronaut to get to your spaceship."
- This one's short and sweet... not very complex but well executed! It uses planet descriptions for each level.
So that's all the games I could fit into this list; all have less than 15 comments and are enjoyable. I wish I could make a larger list, but it was pretty hard to find games with few comments that I liked (I did check all of the games I rated)... again you may comment if you want to recommend games of your own! Thanks for reading.
