Finally end my first gamejam challenge
At 9:00 AM this morning, I hit the Publish button, bringing to a close my very first Ludum Dare (Compo)—and indeed, my first-ever game jam challenge of any kind.
The game is titled Consensus. To be honest, seeing the dazzling visuals created by other seasoned developers, and then looking at my own handful of solid-colored blocks and basic particle effects, I did feel a bit sheepish. Visually speaking, it truly falls into the lowest tier.
But if you were to ask me whether I’m satisfied? By and large, I actually am.
Although my game lacks a flashy exterior, I believe the core concept holds up; the underlying framework and the pulsating terminal logs represent the culmination of my blood, sweat, and tears over these past 48 hours.
It is a highly hardcore puzzle game centered around asynchronous operations and signals. It is available exclusively on PC—so if you’re up for a bit of masochistic fun, feel free to download it: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/59/consensus and give it a try!
