OH WOW HOLY GEEZ

FOURTH??!! Audio tends to be my best scoring part, I expected that to be true again but like... I made it in to the top 5 for audio and like... holy eff thank you!
And now, I will share some brief notes about the tracks and links to the BeepBox songs themselves if you want to pick at 'em.
This soundtrack marks my first time really getting into the "taste" of the FM operators in BeepBox. I wanted to go for something MS-DOS sounding, as the selected palette for the game's art reminded me of the aesthetics of EGA graphics and soundblaster music.
The upbeat track started as a completely different song. It was way darker, sounded like some kind of boss battle music and didn't line up with the fun positive vibe I was aiming for, so I scrapped all but the drums because I really like the energy and the whole "marching drum" sound in the snares at the end of the intro became something of Numbus' motif (to the point where I made that the sound when Numbus is at the ready).
The more mellow track started with me playing around with one of the harmonics presets in BeepBox to get the sound of a particular flavor of Rhodes piano. I have an obsession with its sound, it just makes big chords sound cooool. I borrowed some aesthetics from Bossa Nova, while keeping it close to a Genesis/Megadrive flavor.
The third track plays in the help and ending. It was the last day, there was not a lot of time left and I wanted to channel the MS-DOS energy one more time and got this. When in doubt, go for blues energy.
Anywhoo, thank you so much for checking out Numbus Crossing! Hope I see you next time!
