My idea is sort of an interactive visual novel but done in a top down old-timer RPG way. In my game, tentatively titled Beyond Time, the aim of each time period is to find a source of power in each area to power up the time portal to leave. So for example, I use an electrical circuit and wiring in my 1920s time period and a coal fire in my medieval time period. Not gonna lie, this was an idea based on the One Room theme which I adapted cause you know same room, different time periods. Anyway, I've finished 2 rooms and have 3 or 4 left to go so sorta on schedule. Btw the art is truly atrocious but hey, we're programmers, not artists. Maybe I'll do the Jam next time so that I can get someone else to draw.
