I decided to make an interactive fiction game in javascript where you play a King whose power will run out when his traitorous Archduke executes a coup. Before that happens, you must deal with random events while maintaining resources so your Heir can escape and one day reclaim the throne.\n\nCreating the engine and interface was the fun part, but writing the events was harder. Creative writing is draining! I had planned all sorts of interesting features and unique endings, but had to strip away all but the most basic features in order to finish on time with enough content to make multiple playthroughs interesting. I'll probably keep working on it after the competition for fun.
