Compo/Jam done. Play and Rate games!

Well the Compo and Jam have ended.

If you had troubles submitting your game, reach out to me here and I can help.

NEW: Also hey! Some streamers, youtubers, and other media people want suggestions for games to play. Give theme here:

What can I do to my game?

(Edited for clarity)

Your game is done. You shouldn't be changing it anymore. The game you submitted should be the game people play.

After the Ludum Dare deadline, you are allow to port your game to other platforms (Windows, Linux, HTML5, etc). We only require that you finish the game for one platform by the deadline. Ports should be as close to the original submitted game as possible.

As for bug fixes, you shouldn't be changing your game, with the sole exception of fixes for problems that are stopping people from playing or finishing your game (and thus rating your game). That doesn't mean add new features. That doesn't mean tweaking, tuning, or balancing it. What that means is if you need to change something so the majority of players can play or finish your game, you can.

For example, lets say last minute you tuned a value wrong and the game became unbeatable. Or you disabled something by accident and forgot to enable it. You are allowed to fix this. Be sure to leave a log of changes on your page, so new players can see it was changed.

When you change too much, it becomes a Post Event game. We still need your Compo/Jam version here (for playing and rating), but for the rest of the world you are free to improve your game and show it at its best. Just do us a favour and make the Event version the first link people see. Thanks!

Play and Rate games!

For the next 3 weeks, we'll be playing and rating the games you made this past weekend.

Be sure you use the event page games link. The [GAMES] button on the homepage is all Ludum Dare games.

:warning: If you want a score at the end of Ludum Dare 39, you need ratings! :warning:

And the best way to get ratings is to play games, rate games, and leave feedback!!

Feedback rewards are new as of Ludum Dare 38. When you're viewing a game page, we highly encourage you to glance at the other comments on the page. If you see someone has good/useful/constructive feedback on a game, please give that comments a ! This is how we know a comment is good, when you like it.

What's next?

My immediate focus is on making it easier to sort through games.

If you're a Windows user, you're fine. Just visit the games page and start browsing. However if you're a Linux or other platform user (like myself), finding games you can run without rebooting/dual booting is more work.

I was hoping to get this working tonight, but it's going to be a bit more work that I had hoped.

I'll have a better idea of where we are tomorrow night.

When is Ludum Dare 40?

Official announcement we're saving for results day (August 23rd), but do expect early December.

That's it for now. Gonna grab me some Z's.
