Ludum Dare 46

[Web] Peacock Potions!

We submitted our game last night, and you can play it in a browser!

https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/46/peacock-potions

The game is about keeping the family business alive (brewing and selling magical potions). See who you can meet and how much money you can make along the way!

The art came out really well, and we managed to get in a pretty good amount of content. There was lots more that we wanted to do of course, but I'm happy with the result.

Only a few days left to play and rate games!

If you're interested, check out our game about keeping the family business alive.

We're quite happy with how it turned out, and we're working on some improvements for a post-compo version, possibly to be launched on mobile. All feedback is appreciated!

Entering!

I'm entering with the same team as last LD!

We had some difficulty coming up with a fun and interesting interpretation of the theme. Time loops seemed too obvious. We decided on a platformer where moving offscreen will cause you to travel to a different season of the same environment. Will see how it works out!

Progress pictures!

Saturday is close to ending, and I haven't had much time to post progress pictures along the way.

We have platforming working and some pieces of environment art ready to go. Still a bunch of placeholders scattered around and some rough edges on the level design, but it is functional!

Finished! Will add more pictures and info soon

After submitting, too hungry and tired to add detailed info and pictures. There is more to come!

In the meantime, you can play the game! https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/47/ascend

Check out Ascend!

Ascend is a puzzle platformer where you pass through the same environment in different seasons.

Also, since some players commented that some of the puzzles were hard, I created a video walkthrough. Beware of spoilers though - play the game first!

5th consecutive LD for me!

I'm in again with the same team as I did for the last few LDs (@quack-doctor and @adafheyesh). This will make 5 in a row for me! Pretty excited to see what we can make this time.

In the mean-time, have some programmer art!

We have an idea!

After a couple hours of brainstorming we've settled on an idea. There are going to be two main views, one for digging gameplay, and the other will be something like a computer screen where the story will progress and you can purchase upgrades. I won't spoil anything here about the story idea that we have.

Hopefully we don't overscope too much!

Day 1 report - lots of basic functionality in place!

We have a functional digging mechanic and a bunch of UI for interacting with the computer between days (to buy stuff or for story info). A lot of things are still rough around the edges and we have a lot more planned.

Too much still to do :(

Tomorrow will be busy!

We finished

Phew - long weekend. I guess we were a bit ambitious in scope, so it was a busy time. We rushed to get in a lot of content, bugfixes, and polish on the final day. Still - we did get to a pretty complete state at the end. Pictures and more info will come later.

We have a windows build.
The web build had some strange issues, will see if we can resolve those later. If not we can port to put up Mac/Linux builds.

Web version of Descend!

In and started!

I'm participating with the same team as I've worked with for the past few LDs. We didn't like Unstable much initially, though we came up with an idea that we are pretty happy with.

We're going to have a character whose emotional state changes easily, and whose physical attributes change based on the current emotional state. (Strong when angry, jumping when joyful)

We're also trying to figure out how to fake a perspective while using 2D art assets. Here's how things look so far:

Things are coming together!

We have a surprising number of our core objects and mechanics in place already! Though I'm sure there will still be lots more to do.

Here's a picture of how things look
