I'm in again!
My LD participation streak shall continue this will be 7 in a row! Same group as the last few, hoping to make something fun :)

Our best game idea for this theme so far is a card game, and so it was pretty easy to use Tabletop Sim to quickly prototype and playtest some simple mechanics.
A card game has a lot of design challenges that we didn't have in previous jams, but I'm excited to see what we can make.

It took a while for us to decide on the mechanics of our game, and even now we may end up changing a bunch of things as we go. But in the meantime we're implementing a semi-generic card game engine, which has been kind of fun.
Here are some screenshots of the progression so far:

Things are looking better. The card art is really sweet :)
It turns out that there are a lot of challenges related to building a card game that I hadn't previously considered, like how to animate all of the cards and properties, and all of the different card effects. But it's coming together. Hopefully we have time to finish it all later today, but I need some sleep first.

We finished! We got in most of what we wanted in terms of features and I'm pretty happy with the result.
I was so busy developing for the whole weekend that I haven't actually had much time to play our own game! but after playing it a bunch in the last couple hours it's been fun. Some cards or effects might be overpowered, but even so there is a lot of tension because you have to be constantly careful or else you'll start to get overwhelmed or run out of supplies.

We made a survival deck-building game for this LD.
The goal is to collect food and other resources from the environment while avoiding damage from monsters, and to survive for as long as you can.
You can play in a web browser - check it out!

I'm in again! With the same team as I've worked with for the last several Jams (@adafheyesh and @quack-doctor)
As a funny coincidence, we made a game called Ascend for LD 47, so if Ascend is the winning theme, we might end up making a sequel, Ascend 2.
I'm ok with most of the themes, but I'm not a fan of Harvest as I think it has a couple of obvious interpretations and I'm not too excited about any of the ideas I've had for it so far. But if it wins I suppose it will just be a longer time spent brainstorming.

Too busy jamming to type more
I'm really happy with the game we made this time.
The rules of the game change every 10 seconds, so you have to be ready for anything.
It's fast and it's fun! And we implemented a leaderboard so you can share your high scores!

Playable in a web browser.
Check it out, let us know what you think, and try for high scores for the leaderboard!

Just a few days remain until ratings end!
For our game, the player changes between a bunch of different game genres every 10 seconds.
Since it's a high-score game, we implemented a global leaderboard and there has been some fierce competition for the top scores! Can you get a high score before the rating period ends?

I've been so busy since LD that I never got around to posting about our game, but here goes!
We made an action game where you grow plants that have a variety of unique effects and use the fruit from these plants as projectiles to defeat enemies. You can then collect new seeds and further customize your plants.

I'm playing danger zone games as well now to try to help out others in the same situation. Lets all make it!
Edit: We made it to 20 - thank you to everyone who played! To anyone still looking to play games, check out the danger zone games

We have a game mechanic of drawing on paper, and the technology seems to be working well so far!

Final Frenzy! is a game about cramming notes onto a single piece of paper while studying for a variety of subjects.
I find it really funny how some notes can make perfect sense to the author but be totally incomprehensible to anyone else. Here are some of my own notes:
I'm curious what sort of notes other people take. If you are interested, you can play the game here:
https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/54/final-frenzy
And I encourage you to screenshot some of your notes and share them in comments on the game's page.
Check out Final Frenzy!, a game where you try to fit your notes on a single piece of paper as you study for a series of silly exams.
Some of the players in our comments have surprisingly neat notes, but I've always been a fan of my own messy writing. What sort of notes would you take?

I'm in with my usual crew (@adafheyesh and @quack-doctor)
We spent a while thinking about themes and slept on it. It felt like going underground and underwater was too obvious, so we thought of a bunch of creative interprettions of the theme (deep undercover, deeply profound, etc), but we couldn't come up with good game mechanics for most of those.
So for now, we are indeed moving downward.

I always enjoy taking screenshots of the game during development to see how much it changes through development. From mockup, to programmer placeholder art, and eventually to polished art from our lovely artist (@quack-doctor)

We created an RTS where the core of your base is slowly sinking so you have to expand and protect it as it falls. It has some really cute art!
~~Unfortunately I have been behind on rating games and we are not quite at 20 ratings.~~
Edit: made it to 20 ratings, thanks everyone!
I'm rating more games now, but we would love it if you took the time to try our game and give us a rating as well.
