Ludum Dare 54

And... Done!

Harold's Furry Hazelnut Scurry, a game about a Hamster and a lot of hazelnuts is now playable!

(well, that title is a mouth full, even without nuts in it :hamster:)

You can play it here: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/54/harolds-furry-hazelnut-scurry (WebGL)

Harold The Hamster Speedrun Mode

A gif of our curious Hamster discovering the world: 20231004emHaroldTheHamster/em03.gif

Harold got some Post-Compo updates. Nothing really changed, except: - There is a hidden speedrun mode! :runner: - You can now use the mouse to look around while standing still - Small bugs fixed (like Harold counting 151 hazelnuts instead of 150. We gave him some more math lessons...)

Speedrun Mode

Harold can now do speedruns! So nuts!

Note that the Speedrun Mode is completely hidden because I don't want people to get the wrong idea that this was there in the Compo version. Turning on speedrun mode can be done by pressing F1 in the main menu.

Unlike the normal casual mode where you collect 150 hazelnuts and just enjoy exploring the world, the goal of the speedrun mode is to collect 15 specific hazelnuts in the shortest time possible. The ones you need to collect are always the same and are even highlighted with a circle in the main menu:

Unless you think 15 is too little, then there is the full 150 hazelnut collection speedrun mode as well.

The scoreboards of both are still empty except for me.

Of course you can also still play the normal casual version (compo version) and just relax and discover the world!

Ludum Dare 56

I am in!

Yep, I am joining this one. This will be my 11th Ludum Dare :cake:.

Last time there were hamsters... Who knows what this time will bring?

Looking for a team?

Anyone still looking for a team?

I am mainly a programmer and animator and could definitely use some help in the art and sound department for more sparkles :sparkles:. You can find me as jeroenpx on Discord.

I like making cozy games with a unique mechanic. (see also here for examples: @jeroenpx)

Time zone: I live in Belgium (CET).

Edit: As for the engine, I will probably be using Godot with GDScript this time.

No hamster this time, but beez!

Last time we had little Harold... little_harold.png

Beezz :bee:

This time we made an endless clicker game with EVEN cuter beeezzz! :bee:

Behind the scenes of the rig of the bee model: 20241013embee/emrig_v3.gif

I teamed up with @aghoulprince and @faedoll-attr-action for this Ludum Dare.

We had a lot of fun this game jam! I also loved working on all the tiny cute bee animations. They can fly, jump, get angry at you and even dance!

Crazy stuff

Also, crazy things happened! We reached the itch.io front page for a few days in a row... !!! itchioemfrontpage/emsmall.png

Like, wut? That can happen for a game jam game?

Not everyone sees it, but we still had more than 300 players actually click through directly from the itch.io home page alone!

Game update!

But enough of that, what I actually wanted to talk about is a game update! :bee:

(not just the beezz have been buzzy!) - The game now has a little bonus ending cinematic! - There is now also an Android and a Windows build (next to the Web build which also runs on mobile devices!)
