Finaly updated my graphics from this:

To this:

Still a long way to go on those, have to create all the tilesets and backgrounds, as well as the menu screen etc., but its getting there.
oh and level design, can't forget to do that, or itll be a pretty damn shitty game.
but seeing as I got over 1 day left, I should find enough time to do that, and testing and adding music and sound effects
got a rough planning on the first 5 levels I wanna do until the end of the jam. but now, off to bed, in 8 hours i'll be back and finish updating the graphics, after which i can work on the levels.
finished the tutorial level apart from tutorial messages and background image. no, to build the remaining 4 levels for the 5-level setup i wanted to finish it with today, then add all the backgrounds.
1 level left to do, after that I only need to draw the credit-/mainmenu-/level startup-screen, and the game is basicly finished. If I have enough time left after that I might try my hands on adding soundeffects or music into it.
Finished making the 4 levels I plan on releasing the game with. Now onot polishing the last few missing graphic pieces, and adding music and soundeffects if I have enough time left.
Should I go for a fishing+dating simulator? Should I go for a 420 stealth-farming sim? a Tennis Fighting game? Grid based Beat'em up? Sideview Tower Defense? Or something else entirely? How do I decide which one to choose?
Oh yeh, I love that amazing art quality of my mockup
basic idea is to fish out the girl you like, and then fish her gifts/uranium/other things(including some bad ones) which trigger dialog options you have to answer in order to increase your points with that girl.
bad answers/fishing for other girls will obviously decrease your points, and once 0 your girl will swim away, forcing you to start over.
if you fill her meter up on the other hand, you win the game by some means i still have to figure out.
now to waste another hour until im getting breakfast and then start working on it. :🧜♀️:
2 Hours of work done and the cast of the line is working as well as the hooking of your new favorite-fish-waifu™ now showering to refill me with more water for my slippery game, and then implementing the ability to actually reel in stuff, movement for the fishthings and the girls wishes.
Got a line attached to the hook, so reeling in all the pretty ladies is actually possible now (at least ingame) now, to add a bit of realism to it and let them swim away when you give them your hook ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡° )
No matter how much I pull on these slippery girls, they always swim away again :(
could be because the fisher is purple, but could also be because I have not implemented that part yet
3 more hours of work for a total of 5 hours programming and 2-3 hours of brainstorming and the main mechanics are mostly finished. once I add the victory/losing conditions and spawning to the objects, i just need to fill the game with ui, new graphics/sound, and content (meaning as much fish waifus as I can manage in the remaining time)
1 hour more went into this, and the fishing part is finished. All thats left to do is implement waifus and their wishes for the dating part, and polishing up graphics and sound
your freshly fished waifu™ can accept gifts! she will accept anything at the moment but give you no increase in love for it, which is kinda sad. but once i've done that, and gave her a wishlist, so she can begin to love or hate you, im basicly done with mechanical coding. all thats left to do then is UI and improvements to graphic/audio
Took a quick nap, and really needed it. now I can finish up my coding, and start thinking up stuff you can fish, and work on graphic and audio.
Anyone knows if I can break up the declaration of an Array into multiple lines in GDScript?
basicly i got something like [[1,2,3],[1,2,3],...] and its getting really long
and i would love to get it layed out like this
[[1,2,3],
[1,2,3],
...]
dont know if, and how i can do this tho
Once i've done that, im through with coding and can start improving on the placeholder art and adding sound
just 32 (and a little more if i find more bugs) bugs/sprites/soundeffects etc. to go and im done! but first, a small break
After the most recent bugfixing you can no longer romance with generic items like treasure chest, old boots or other gifts intended to only be given to your true love.😭
Only need to fix the spawning of all the things you can fish, and allow them to escape from your hook without permanently destroying your rod, and I can get working on graphics and sound. getting hyped!
