Ludum Dare 57

Thanks for playing our game!

This was by far our best jam, I had by far the most fun working on this one with my team and it's the most complete and polished game we created so far. I feel like I have grown a developer and artist ever since our first game back in Ludum Dare 54

We got a lot of awesome feedback and nice words and we are very thankful that you tried our game. it makes me happy to see that the artstyle clicked with people because it is something that that I had a lot of fun working on.

We wanted to have a post jam update ready on time but it didn't quite come together, but this is definitely a project we wanna continue and turn into a small release

Here's the game if you wanna give it one last try

And we're done!

Despite not being able to implement some of the more intricate systems and funny lore bits during the time limit, this is the most fun we have had making a game so far, I personally liked the theme, we had lots of jokes that we put in the game and we really wanted to nail the aesthetic and mood

you should give it a try!

Unsatisfied with the current state of the game

Now looking back on this with clarity I just feel upset with myself, it ended up being a very lopsided project.

I got way too absorbed in the visual department and let it get all the attention to the point where the gameplay end up barely fleshed out, there isn't even a complete gameplay loop. I hope we can fix it with an update but it's a rough start

Post Jam and Itch Version

We have released a post jam version of our game on Itch.io. It fixes the controls, adds quality of life features, improves the gameplay loop, and more!

The Jam version is still playable on the ludum page and available for download.

You can try the game here!

The Big Apple paintings in Ghost Channel

Thought I'd share the full quality apple photoshops I did for the paintings in game, since some of them appear too small in game to be readable. Some of them contain references to our previous jam games

Ghost channel is a Luigi's Mansion inspired action/puzzle ghost hunting game where you play as a tv head that can connect to the frequencies of ghosts. It's also a tv show that you watch on a screen inside the game and it has a 90s inspired aesthetic!

Thank you for the ratings

I had so much fan playing and rating all the creative and interesting games you made. What stood out the most to me this time was the sheer variety of ideas and interpretations of the theme. Almost everyone had an unique interpretation of the theme which made playing the games even cooler!

I am really proud of the game we made this time. I think it's the most cohesive and complete game we made so far for a jam. I am also very happy that everyone liked the presentation. I worked very hard over the 3 days to make the art and the music into something fun and eye catching

If there is one thing I want to do better is to downgrade the scope of the game a bit next time and also try to integrate the theme in a more direct/clear way though the gameplay. I feel we tend to depict the theme in a pretty obscure or aesthetic based way and it seems to not always do the best lol

I am confused

from the comments that we got I got the impression that the game had some flaws but it was still still considered good, and the style was almost universally praised, some of these scores just don't feel like they reflect that at all?

I would like to know what I could do better next time but some of these don't make sense to me

Now I don't wanna sound ungrateful because I really appreciate that people even stopped by and played it. it just doesn't feel like these scores match the energy and enthusiasm that I perceived in the comments
