Weight by Noxfadh

[raw]
made by Noxfadh for LD32 (COMPO)
Javascript plaformer.

The player has mass, and depending on this, they can break some areas of the world to progress. To gain mass they have to eat coloured orbs. Mass is lost over time because your character is moving around doing exercise :)

Summary: Obesity is used as a weapon against the environment.

Controls:
A - Left
D - Right
Space - Jump
Escape - pause

First competition! Woo!

* Updated to work in Firefox. (Chrome's more flexible with it's javascript compiler apparently) :P

Nice and short. Good for your first entry. The controls got a bit wonky at times, but the physics based platforming was a cool idea. I also like the minimalist art design. You can do a lot with translucent rectangles!

Liked the visuals and the concept, but it was extremely easy to sequence break (to the point that I did so by accident), as well as fall off the edge and get trapped in an endless loop.

Momentum and mass as weapons, I haven't seen that quite like Gish. Unfortunately the game was a little glitchy (in Firefox, Chrome worked fine) and when I fell off a platform I didn't respawn on top (oh well, good old F5 it is).

I didn't understand the color change in the ball, it didn't seem to affect anything in the game, however. Apart from the barriers it would have been interesting to have enemies that can be squished only with a certain mass/force applied to them or some kind of see-saw contraption. So there's quite some potential there :)

Nice first compo game!
Would've liked a bit of an animation to the breaking glass walls, but I know time's always against you.

Controls were so-so, I fell into the grey and could not get out again or restart the game. OK game otherwise.

Excellent idea, but to be honest the execution wasn't great. The controls were a bit off and I won without trying! Still, good work and I'd love to see this expanded on!

Interesting concept, would help if there was an auto reset when you fell off the world

Had some issues with passing through platforms and walls. Otherwise, well done as first entry. Keep it up!
