Cut! by HighQuality

[raw]
made by HighQuality for LD32 (COMPO)
A short puzzle platformer made in .NET and my own Game Engine.

In it you play a small character with the ability to cut and paste the world infront of him.

Because I couldn't take as much use of the core mechanic as I'd like this is more of a prototype than a full-blown game, it's still cool nonetheless.
A lot of time was wasted on the ability to cut and paste in a rotated rectangle, but this proved to produce artifacts due to how the world is stored.

WOW. THAT. WAS. COOL. Hands down, one of the most fun game-jam games I've ever had the pleasure of playing. And so expansive for a jam game, let alone a compo game! A bit of audio would have been nice, but still... great job! You took the tools you were given and made something great. I'm proud to give my vote.

Pretty cool mechanic. Game was pretty bug although, but as for most games in Ludum Dare :P.

A nice one, contratulations! I just fell on a little bug, when I pasted matter near the end-level-portals, it still started to grab me, but I was blocked by the matter, so I had to restart.

Awesome. It's a simple concept but it's really fun to play. I had to restart a few tmies because I got stuck in sand (or something). :)

It will probably become a nice game once you get more stuff like those blocks you can't cut.

I really enjoyed playing through this. Love the mechanics and art. Would love to see levels with the enemies we see near the end. For some reason though I couldn't get the audio to work - unfortunately I wasn't able to get it working in my live playthrough of it: http://www.twitch.tv/drathy/c/6585859

Very very interesting mechanics, I was hoping for more levels but I'm not blaming considering the time restriction. The controls are a bit wonky at times but overall it is very enjoyable.
I wish for a more in depth puzzle game in the future.

That was awesome, man!
Great idea and great realization!
Game looks nice and fun to play, also very interesting mechanics.
And fact that you added enemies and different terrain is really cool
I liked it very much! 5/5

P.S. If there is really no music (I hadn't it) why don't you turn off Audio voting?

Very interesting gameplay mechanic! As you said, there isn't much in the game yet, but I think the stuff that was in there was really interesting.

Really different kind of game! Impressive that you used your own engine and entered this into the compo. I love playing games like these.

Crazy unique mechanic, really interesting. I have no idea how you managed to implement cutting and pasting terrain like that! The platforming physics I felt were too rigid though, no air control and no variable height jumping, although I realise you're mainly prototyping the cut and paste stuff which probably took up most of the jam time. I'd like to see what comes of this!

This is a really cool game! I love the minimalistic style of the graphics and the way you explained the controls. Also I loved the new mechanics (blue stone, enemies) you introduced later

Excellent little game, and a great idea for the mechanics! It's a shame you couldn't go further with it, but good work for 48 hours!

This is extremely clever! I was surprised when my cutting and pasting ended up not just cloning the enemies, but even a small segment of one was a whole enemy by itself.

Nice work! Loved the cut and paste machanics, the graphics style and the way it plays. It runs smoothly and beautifully! :3

Missed some audio and had some problems after cutting pasting too much (got stuck for good! >_<). But lovely entry, really! Well done!

I really like the idea, but the cut'n'paste mechanic could still use some work. I would like an indication showing what you are cutting and were you are pasting it. That would make the more playable.

I'm so sad I didn't see this prior to the results being released. This game is so great!
Honestly I think the wonkyness of the cutting and pasting was my favorite part. I loved how screwed up I could make everything by copy/pasting haphazardly. It made me have to really think about what I was doing.
