Dragon Slayer 89 by acro
Controls: arrow keys to move, space bar for attack (or action where appropriate), escape to quit.
The Game and Watch that never was! Featuring high-fidelity LCD graphics!
As Dirk the Hero, quest your way to the dragon's dwelling in the final cavern of these murky under-parts... in a righteous quest to slay Smug the Mighty, treasure-hoarding dragon and blight upon the lands of Elcedeedia.
---
* Requires Java 1.8
The impetus for this was to flaunt the theme ridiculously :D Not only is the entire game on-screen, but you can see every possible state, just like a real LCD display.
With a few unfortunate technical setbacks, we've had to try patching up a few project build problems and bugs at the very, very last minute, and unlike previous Jam entries there are probably still some problems remaining.
All comments welcome! (especially from anyone too young to have played a Game & Watch in their heyday).
Let us know how far you get!!

Thanks for your comments, everyone!
We've done some live playtests with unsuspecting people and the reactions have been gratifying and hilarious. It seems this is perhaps harder than we gave ourselves credit for, which is nice.
We plan to do a little post-submit fix to correct the skeletons no-hit problem, this should be up by Sun 15th.

Come and see us! :)
Now 2 of my favourite LD entries this round are LCD throwbacks (this and http://ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-31/?action=preview&uid=46900). I'd love to see more games like this!
