Emporium of Death and Laughter by talecrafter

Welcome to the Emporium, where your struggle for survival is just one of the many pleasures experienced by the beloved clients of the house.
Survive in a hostile arena, where countless champions have died to amuse the audience.

------

Well, I had many features planned. Probably too much. I feel like this is just the barebones of the game it could have been, with items, traps, more enemies... But at least the shooting part works.

I thought that an arena works perfect for the theme "everything on a single screen" because the actors and the plot may change, but the stage remains always the same.

Move with WASD or Arrow Keys.
Shoot with Mouse.
Switch Weapons with Space or Right Mouse Button.

Sweet graphics, sounds, and atmosphere. The tile spawning is a neat mechanic, and moving and shooting feels good enough.

I like the ominous mood and the grotesque design of the creatures. Well done for completing this in 48 hours!

The game is very darn great and well done as well it fits the idea around it! This should be expanded into something greater but not make it as monotonous like this entry.

The everchanging arena is nicely done. Contributes to the theme very well! Though the weapons need a bit more balancing i think, they are well done. Nicely done within those 48h!

Nice gameplay with well polished graphics. Was hard to aim sometimes, as has been mentioned.

I liked it! The way the world changed between rounds was pretty excellent and rewarding, it had nice pacing based on that. I too wished the crosshair was more visible, but for a jam it was excellent. Good job.

I really enjoyed the deliberate feeling of everything being interchangeable about this scenario. Not just the arena, but the monsters and the player characters too.

I'm impressed with the intended scope of the game. Would like to see this idea taken further.

Great game. I had fun playing it!

I think the AI speed should be reduced a little bit which will allow some separation (possibly for a slightly longer time) between the player and the enemies.

It's pretty much impossible to play well with a laptop & trackpad, but I really like the look and feel, and the different characters.

The mood and story is weird but cool. Nice graphics, i love the design of the monsters ! The gameplay is a little bit boring by the time, cause the level design force you to get damages from the enemies.

Nice idea with the expanding maps, the graphics were quite nice and unique. The weapons could've had a bit more oomph in their sound effects.

The atmosphere is very well done and gives you a sense of pressure. Btw, can you win ? I think you battle waves of enemies on top of waves of enemies without knowing what's next

The changing map felt really smooth and polished as well as the graphics/mood.
I feel the gameplay lacks the feeling of progress, maybe some unlocks would have comforted the feeling of my inescapable doom.

Hi there. Love the graphics and sounds, the effects and the map reveal after each wave. Got through round 1 but then death. Nice sounds. Would be nice if shooting was a bit more generous collision-wise, bit more power to the player would be more fun, I think. Like the random character name generation, nice touch! Good job!

Gorgeous. Reminds me of Bastion. Really like the narrative with the giant eye in the sky etc, and the diversity of weapons.

At a few points it feels like it's impossible to get away from them (like, at the beginning before any platforms have spawned) and like I'm doomed, but that's a minor gripe for an otherwise greatly polished game. Nice one.
