Connected Worlds by psema4
The world works in mysterious ways...
No, really.
You probably thought that balance in the universe was maintained by the laws of physics but you'd be wrong.
The truth of the matter is that balance is maintained by Gnomes who toil endlessly in there own worlds - but in the name of light or darkness.
And now, you've become one. But which? Will you bring light into the world or douse it forever?
Once you've joined the fight, steal gold from the other team's mountain and bring it back to your team's stash. As the balance changes, so will the environment!
Be warned, however! You'll periodically see members of the other team wink into your existence. If they're too close you'll have to do battle!

The unity web-player polls the game-server for updates every 10 seconds. Other players will appear briefly (3 seconds) at their last known location.
Ran out of time to implement player vs. player card combat so all there is to do is collect gold for your team. Teams, Light or Dark, are chosen in a round-robin fashion: The first player joined will be on the Light team, the next on the Dark and so on.

Retrospective will be available on or about 08/26/2014 at: http://projects.psema4.com/unity/ld48-30/postmortem.html
Bugs:
- gnome meshes & animations: not implemented :(
- pvp card battles: not implemented :(
- tree bark normal map is missing
- missing archway texture
- web clients do not always disconnect cleanly
- no nexus control to restart the server
About the server:

About assets:
Music was created with Audio Evolution on Android and exported via Soundcloud. (See photo in the unity-project folder. See also https://soundcloud.com/psema4/echos-of-an-8-bit-dream). One sound effect ("Clink!") was recorded with Audacity.
Textures were produced with the Gimp. Archway model produced with Blender. Terrain & remaining 3D assets created in Unity 3D.

Wow a multiplayer game. Good try but I think the scope is too big for a compo.
