Self-destruct in 10 by Transmit

Self Destruct in 10,

Made by a 2 member team in about 48 hours using Actionscript 3, a modified version of Flixel, Photoshop and Flash Develop.

The idea of the game is you have a 10 second head start racing away from the exploding space centre. You must get as far as you can!

Being hit by comets will slow you down, eventually pushing you into the explosion behind you. Being hit by meteors will instantly kill you, so avoid those!

After you die, you can use your experience to upgrade aspects on your ship, and try again!

Sound glitched on our final release sadly, and we didn't notice until after submission that it was all gone.

We had originally planned for many more upgrades, and more obstacles to avoid (or positive obstacles to hit for boosts etc). And may continue work on this even after the competition has finished!

Hey, you should change the link title from "Windows" to "Web"! :)

Good concept and I really like the movement and pacing. Nice job.

I can't seem to upgrade anything past level 5, is that the upper limit? Cos it is showing a cost to upgrade, and I have way more than enough =/
Got a high score of 2785 =D

Really cool! Kept me playing for 15 minutes or so, would play for more if there was just a little bit more to it, but it's pretty solidly done! I did feel like the collision was kinda cheap - were you using Flixel's default collision? If so, I think Photonstorm's pixel perfect collision in the Flixel Power Tools would fit something like this much better. Of course, things were going so fast I could be mistaken :)

Nice job. I really like the concept. And good replay value with the upgrades.

Tifu: Level 5 is the current max, we had 4 categories to upgrade originally, but they were cut due to time restraint

01010111: We ended up using Flixel's default collision, we were working on our own pixel perfect collision, I didn't realise Photonstorm had it in their power tools (something I've not looked at!), in the end we didnt finish the collision.

Thanks for the positive comments so far!

Holy crap, don't update your speed, it makes the game SO much harder.

Frame rate got really slow after a while for some reason, don't know why.

The gameplay is simple but it's fun. Great that you can get up and going so quickly. Liked the upgrades, great way to keep you trying again and again. I think my high score was about 2460.

Nice job! I found I couldn't upgrade control past a certain level though (I think level 5?). Definitely moves fast even by upgrade level 3
