Space Blitz by Mekuri
Space Blitz is finally done. A lot of things went well, and a lot of things went wrong, but all in all, I am satisfied with the result.
If the game won't run, make sure that you've downloaded the XNA redistributable, and/or the .NET framework.
In Space Blitz you are the commander of a small squadron of space ships, fighting against another squadron of spaceships. You choose what direction each of your ships will fly, and start the round. The ships then continue in their designated direction, until 10 seconds have passed, and then you will be able to change direction again. The ships will fire automatically if an enemy gets into firing range, but be careful - Friendly fire can be an issue.
Things that got cut:
- More than one ship type.
- Ability to deploy ships manually.
- Ship Equipment / Resource Economy.
- Cooldowns - To be activated during the 10 seconds.
Tools used:
Visual Studio 2010 - Coding
Paint.NET - All the graphics
SFXR - Sound Effects
Otomata - Music
Right now I am extremely tired, so I don't know whether or not I will add the things that got cut later... time will tell.
Good luck and have fun!

Good music.
Maybe in another version the ships could turn slowly towards their new direction?
How much work would it be to make it a local two-player (even n-player, maybe ?) game ? Because that would be awesome.
There's definitely room for improvement, but I ran out of time, so I had to compromise with some of the things.
If people in general like this idea I think I wouldn't mind expanding upon it. Local multiplayer would be fairly easy to implement, the only issue would be that the player going last will have the advantage of knowing how the opponent placed his/her ships. Also I would add the things that got cut, like more ship types, equipment etc.
Anyways, I could keep on ranting all day :P - I just wanted to thank you all for the feedback so far.
Only thing I wish I had was the ability to select more than one unit at a time.
I already have a new version of the game were some of the suggestions have been implemented. I will wait with uploading that version until the end of the dare, so it won't be mistaken for my real entry. The changes include: More ship types, the ability to select multiple ships, more realistic movement (turn rate on ships), zoom function, and more.
