Bank Robbers by CaptainIcy

[raw]
made by CaptainIcy for LD25 (COMPO)
Well, this is my game. I loved the theme and had a lot of cool ideas but I went with this. You're bank robbers trying to escape from the police.

I said after LD24 that I would never make another randomly-generated game again... but there I went again this time, doing it again. I regretted it in the end, haha.

It has some bugs, needs a lot of polish, sounds, and a menu, but the deadline was creeping up on me and so I just put it in a playable "finished" state. Didn't really want to move it to the Jam since this week has been so busy anyway, I didn't want to take more time out of yet another day.

Overall, I had a lot of fun, as always. I just wish I could've kept it simpler/been more prepared. I meant to create a warmup game this time to be prepared for the style of game I was going to make for LD25, but I'm afraid busy life didn't let me do that.

Anyway, here it is. I'm certainly going to try to make a post-compo update to this game, since I have so many great ideas, so we'll see!

Controls:
Left mouse: Shoot
Right mouse: Boost (Press once, don't hold. A tiny bug I didn't get to tackle lets you hold it and it looks like you're boosting but you're not anymore)

Goal: Last as long as you can, score as much as you can (by shooting the police).
Boost through the road blocks.

Terribly ugly UI, I know. But again, I just shifted my focus to making it playable instead of shiny things like a nice UI.

Score is at the top, best score is to the right of that. Under the score is your health. Under that is the boost. Should be self-explanatory aside from that.

Loved the graphic of the cop car getting destroyed! Whish there would have been more background elements (trees, trash cans, pedestrians, etc), but excellent concept! I could see this being developed out a little.

Has potential. Clearly a lot to finish and polish as you said. I had difficulty aiming the gun, so I found a place where it worked and locked it in place then just fired and boosted. I really like the Vector style are. Using Vectrosity in Unity, or your own stuff?

My main complain is that the aiming with the mouse doesn't match the actual aim. Fortunately I got used it soon enough.

Other than that it's a nice game, it could turn into something if you threw a lot polishing into it.

i like that you stuck with two-button mechanics, but this seems really broken in its current state.
