Flourish by reedlaw

Just a tiled map, draggable with the mouse. I used Cocos2D-Javascript which supports TMZ maps. I created an elaborate map and tiles for the first day only to discover it took over a minute to display with Cocos2D-Javascript. I spent the rest of the time search for a suitable alternative, so there isn't a game to show at this time. Lesson learned: get familiar with the framework and its performance before starting a competition.

I liked the river inlet, reminded me of Charleston, SC. It seemed that sometimes the map would continue dragging even though I had let go of the mouse. I like your map skills, but I wish there were some atmospheric music!

I understand. I didn't finish my game either.
But you'll be better prepared for the next one.
I don't know if it is possible with Cocos2d, but it would be nice if it could handle it better when you drag the mouse out of the window.

For what's it's worth, the graphical style is quite cute - though a little blurry. Also if I panned too much it thought my mouse button was held down when it wasn't.

There are a few articles/books on LD/GameJam survival that you might find helpful - lots of tips, especially knowing your framework before you start :p

I love the map, really frustrating to see no game. Will you continue soon? :-)

Learning is what this is all about and this contest is about making time to learn. I would consider this a success.

Haha, yeah, using a new framework (or new language, new operating system, new software, etc.) is always asking for trouble with Ludum Dare!

The map looks pretty nice at least.

Mh, didn't work on my system. Some script error in Firefox. Will try again.
