Blue's World by matt9837

[raw]
made by matt9837 for LD23 (JAM)
You MAY require the Visual Studio 2010 runtime!

DEV NOTE:
Well, this is what I could muster up amid school projects, homework, and other obligations. So firstly: Thank you for playing my game! I know I submitted this rather early, but it's all because I MEANT to enter the Compo, then decided that I would rather enter the Jam due to a multitude of reasons:

1: SDL Mixer decided it didn't want to work, so no sound could be used.
2: I just didn't put as much effort as I would have if LD23 took place during Summer. So I'll put a good run in for LD24!
3: Motivation and ideas were lacking around the midway point

I had fun, of course! I wouldn't have finished at all had I not.

Also, this is another game that'll hopefully add up to that goal of 1000! We can do it, guys!

For those interested in the source: My header file setup is weird, I know, but SDL wasn't looking to cooperate for whatever reason, so that's how it turned out.

Nice game, fun to play. I just miss music/sounds and more levels :)
Needed to turn of the antivirus-program to play it, hope you did not include any virus ;)

Pretty standard platformer. Could've used some more challenges.

The lack of music is a real let down, otherwise this is a very nice and clean game.

Well done.

Simple graphics but genius design on a platform game! I just don't see how this fits the theme. Anyways, nice effort! :)

While the game itself doesn't have anything flashy or special, the platforming itself was done pretty well.

Is a good essential platformer, but I think it needs more challenges.

I got through to the end but the camera movement was killing me.

Pretty nice game, I like the platformer/maze combo but the camera was a bit hard to follow. Gameplay was sometimes great, with bell balanced jump sometimes frustrating (when you have the roof stopping you from really controlling a jump for example). Definitely a nice entry to could lead to something great if improved !

Ah, cubes! They hold a special place in my heart :) Loved the "small" feel of the game, which added complexity to it. There were a few times where the controls didn't quite seem to respond, but I'll just chalk that up to my own fault. Would love to hear a little 8-bit tune to accompany the game, along with maybe some story text at the top/bottom of the screen to begin each level? Just some thoughts! Thanks for making and sharing this!

I think it needs something that makes it different in the platformer genre. Very playable, good gameplay, only the jumps at the top borders kind of move the screen too fast.
