Descension by bigbadwofl
The game is called Descension and is basically a voxel-based dungeon-crawler. Defeat enemies and bosses to gain access to the next (lower) level.
Works best on big monitors and computers with proper GPUs.
Controls:
Move: W A S D
Shoot: Left Right Up Down
The game currently has 2 types of enemies, one boss, one weapon, an NPC and 2 powerups.
I kept track of progress on my blog (http://bigbadwofl.blogspot.com/) if you're interested.
Hope you enjoy it,

This means I will have to try this in Wine. (Just quickly tested it, it seems to work.)
In future, PLEASE get mingw32 or something, and every now and then test-compile your code with that. It should help with making your game more portable, considering that g++ is spewing errors about abs() not being "declared in this scope".
I am thankful that you used OpenGL rather than DirectX though, but I hate C++ and don't want to be dealing with errors.
Again, thank you very much for your time.
Admittedly this game did get kinda old after about 3 levels. It wasn't particularly fun, and it wasn't particularly innovative.
As for the rest of it...
The voxel graphics were very effective. I'm not sure if I want to give you 4 or 5 stars; I've decided on 5.
Audiowise, the music was quite fitting. A few more sound effects would have been good (I kinda forgot that you had bullet sounds, but hit sounds would have helped).
I didn't pick up on humour, so N/A for that.
In terms of theme and mood, I think you did well. The general mood was that of hopelessness, and was amplified by those grumpy old gits you shoved in there, for lack of a better term.
Overall, not particularly fun to play, but still somewhat interesting.
Communitywise, I could see a lot of screenshots. A few betas would have been nice, though - source + binary dumps are the way to go.
My advice: spend more time on enhancing the gameplay. You seem to have no trouble with creating thematics, though.
A few things you might want to improve:
- More player feedback! I couldn't tell when I was taking damage, nor how fast - the HP numbers were too small, and in a place in the screen far away from the action.
- Sometimes the NPC text would be cut off by the end of the screen
Keep working on it!
This is super cute and fun. :) You could definitely expand it into something awesome!
I was singing along while gunning down cubemen.
I like Descension alot.
I killed everything on the first level, but nothing happened afterwards?
