The Fruits of Solitude by Cooshinator

[raw]
made by Cooshinator for LD22 (COMPO)
Imagine sitting alone in a boat, surrounded by nothing but water. The sun shines upon you as you crack open a can of your favorite drink. Life is good. Now, imagine never seeing a human being ever again.

Rather than a more literal approach to the theme, "The Fruits of Solitude" is more analytic. Like the title suggests, this game is about the ups and downs of the solitary spirit. Adventure freely through the open waters, while attempting to find civilization before one dies alone.

I liked the game! A couple things tho, you could float over islands, the rotating of objects was a tad off, I felt like the island came up super fast! I also felt like i was going too slow, that may be the trigonometry tho. But good job! The music was intense and fit perfectly and the graphics were neat. Theme was perfect and overall it was great. Nice job!

Nice work, and fresh idea! This 3rd person perspective treatment is reminiscent of the old 8-bit days, and the rotation/forward movement was smooth. Could use some texture on the water to make the movement speed more apparent. And as Dmurph points out, the rotation felt a little off. Good audio track and digitized breeze noise, and the day/night cycle was a nice touch.

I made it to the north edge of the map, then couldn't tell if I was still making progress or not. Probably too many squares to explore them all before running out of patience. But again, nice work. I was impressed!

"What a life" I loved it! The false 3d system is awesome and the story is great and fits the theme really well. After 18 days I figured out that there was a map :)

It was hard to tell if I was moving or not in empty water. All in all, this is a very decent game.

Wow, good stuff. I couldn't figure out what to do, and when in open water there was no sense of movement. The horizon was still, and the water was just blue, only the boat and guy animated. I loved the music and the graphical style though! :)

The pseudo-3D thing is cool, but the rotation is way off. The world is too huge to be fun, however the music is perfect for this game.

The fake 3D is cool but a bit, erm... weird
