Pix Eliz Great Curse of the Cards by mat1er

[raw]
made by mat1er for LD 41 (COMPO)

The great adventurer Pix Eliz is back, and it's less buggy than the previous game!

(which can be found here http://ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-36/?action=preview&uid=20749)

She got curse in an unknown way, and now she can only move using cards!

This game contains:

-More than 7 different rooms!

-More than 10 different cards!

-2 endings!

-Censored nudity!

-Pix Eliz for the first time without her hat!

-I've got nothing more to say!

Music from Ivy Fae and another from YD

The windows version had two bug corrected: the two "spoiler lift" cards where corrected: they didn't got into the deck pool well and the game was impossible to finish, and the left and right words on the cards were corrected (it comes more from a translation difficulty I had than from the development than from lack of times or somethings, that's why I allowed myself to correct it). The source code is still the original version, and the "new source code" is the actual one.

It will deserve a graphic update! The concept is interesting!

Very interesting concept right here. Wouldn't help working on the graphics and gameplay parts to make a longer game out of this, with more options what to do and more challenges.

Actually caught up by the game! Turn-based platformer can actually be great!
Would be nice to explore further the concept!

Interesting idea. I like the concept and the execution is pretty good. The music really set a good atmosphere.

I would have liked to see some sort of animation when you get a new card. It was hard to notice that they changed the first time until I started doing a back and forth dance.

The left/right text being backwards through me off at first. Either I misunderstood, or your left is my right. :)

Overall, well done and congrats for completing!

Damn, I didn't even noticed left and right was not correct...
I mean I can't even get them right in my mother tongue... Thank you for saying it, @jharler. I'm going to patch this when the LD end.

I've also noticed the game wasn't finishable technically (the last card didn't get into the hand), I've corrected both problems. The source version is the original one, bug included.

Love the idea!

I wish it was more noticeable to see which was left or right. I had to pause what I was doing to see what cards I could actually use in the situation, when I just wanted to glance over them to immediately know what I had in my arsenal.

I loved the amount of strategy that was involved. I had to really contemplate what I was getting myself into. The audio did a pretty good job at immersing me too.

Nice work!

Interesting concept, a bit weird to have to refresh the deck pretty often, but nice game

Really cool concept with some nice puzzles. Really needed some checkpoints though, and a better way to get cards then to just sit there shuffling all the time...

I really like the idea. Has a lot of potential. Try out our first entry https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/infinite-typer

Interesting idea but in practice it was pretty tedious. To be fair though, this Ludum Dare's theme encouraged that. I liked the jumping puzzles toward the end, having to figure out which combinations of cards to use, and in what order, to achieve the effect desired.

Cool idea ! It works nice, the start feels awkward then you try to get right card by shuffle it a lot but it is good for understanding ; need more feedback, like pushing feedback when we press the card or so ; nice entry !

Nice idea ;D I agree with @Narudgi it needs feedback - it is important in games that you know that you did something and game informs you about that. For example - you hover something with mouse and it highlights etc. Also - I would add checkpoint at every scene because it is boring when you have to go through same level every time :D Pretty nice entry overall :D

A very good idea with good execution! In the end it's hard to have classic card to do some essential moves. Love the concept. Good job! :)

Very nice concept.
Playing it is laborious a bit because you have to check your card, up your eyes, see what step you have to make, go back, maybe click on shuffle... It's time consuming
Maybe there is a way to make it more accessible to use.
I didn't finished the game because it was taking to much time and it required to make action (i mean clicking on the mouse) in vacuum hoping to get the right move. I think optimising hands could be nice.
