Forest simulation + Fight + Serius game = Locobe: Plant trees to fight desertification, do not let it reach the city!

Controls

Plant a tree with a click Arrows to scroll Mouse wheel to zoom Esc to quit

Rules

Desert attack from the sea. Forest can stop it, the wind comes from North-West to South-East. If desert reach the South-East side, you lose.

Dynamics

Desert moves to the South-East. Little trees will die easier than old trees. Old trees will reproduce.

Humans are not smart, they want to increase their production in short term, so they will chop the trees to increase their lands. It will be hard to fight agains desert and humans.

Mysc

Locobe is a beach in Chile that has beatiful dunas, but the sand is expanding because we are devastating the forest. In many countries desertification is a problem, so I think it is a nice game to learn why it is so hard to fight against it.

The graphics are inspired in SimCity2000, a game that I loved but it was not green at all. I wanted to add a green perspective to the games: you can not just grow.

Nice entry! A meaningful and fun to play game, it's a very interesting perspective. I played first without reading your explanations and a second time after and I really understood how stupid these humans were.

Gread idea! Was funny to play but after some time getting a bit repetitive. Would be cool to have some perks/unlockables.

Original idea, simple but nice music, the graphics make me think of those of the first SimCity ;-)
Nice game guys!
(For the feedback, when I die the counter continues to increment and I can not restart the game)

This is a pretty cool subject and concept. I am not sure about how it combines two genres - it is pretty much all forest-sim, with no real fighting, and I am not sure whether I'd consider Serious Game a genre. But it's a foundation. I agree with @borodar regarding the repetitiveness. Some kind of evolution in gameplay would have been nice.

The art is basic but nice. It reminds me of some very old tiles I made back in the early 2000's on my Amiga for an isometric pirate game, so I have warm and fuzzy nostalgic feelings right now. 😃 Because it's isometric, I couldn't really see what was happening on some tiles hidden behind tall trees at one point, however.

Nice work!

@borodar, thanks. I totally agreee, perks would make the game more interesting. For example, different kinds of trees. But I did not think about how to 'improuve' or make more interesring the enemies (desert and farms).

That's very cool to see an engaged game like this one :) The game is kind of repetitive after a while, but very interesting. And the graphisms are very good.

I loved the graphics ! I would really like a fully developed game on this topic (desertification). About the gameplay, I was unsure about how to get more money, and how to have more interaction with the map. But really, I'd love to play more if you make an improved version !

Surprising social impact game, I actually never knew about how deforestation could affect desert growth like that. I thought the Simcity graphics throwback was awesome, haven't seen that in a while. The gameplay was tough to figure out. I understood the idea of using mature trees as a foundation to fight off growth but I still had trouble in the later portions of the game understanding how to improve, and I'd just place trees where it seemed to fit. A few more mechanics could make this really worthwhile in terms of environmental effects, but there's something to be said about the simplicity of its message currently :)

Nice theme, something to think about afterwards! I'm not sure of how much strategy is available to the player? After a certain point it seemed like I was just trying to put trees down as fast as possible. I do like that immediate anxiety of seeing the forest wither away though, it does kind of sell the theme.
