Pretty game, quite hard tho ^^ I had some sound bugs though, but nothing really bad. Nice work.

This game reminds me a lot of "10,000,000" or "You must build a boat" which basically have same premise, fight enemies by matching 3 types of weapon in a row. Overall I really liked it, pretty nice game if you have small amount of time to kill, managed to get 105 XP before I lost.

Pretty nice game, love the art and overall feel. Would have liked to see a bit more depth rpg wise maybe. Good work and solid entry !

Nice job! Looks great and controls well, I wish there was different enemy types that were weaker to certain things. Also I've never heard of TIC-80 thought played with PICO-8, but I'll have to check it out.

@Tay @Chunkybrewster I did have more that I wanted to do, like powerups, fighting multiple enemies, and weaknesses. In the end I just needed to get it done, and a lot had to be cut.
TIC-80 is basically just a free version of PICO-8. It's fun to use, but since all of your code has to be on the same page, it turns into spaghetti really quickly. The memory limit on your code also makes you code with awful variable names and no comments until you can see how big the game is actually going to be.
If you want to try it out you can mess around with my code and resources just by pressing escape while playing.

This is a pretty cool little game! Love the vibe, art and mechanics.

The feeling I was getting from the art style and game play really made me crave more story type elements. Adding more creative narrative in some way, either through music, or giving the enemies names, or a little transition between battles, just a little more of something would really help it feel more captivating and fun. With the time that you had, you made a nice game.

So simple, and yet so fun! It's not the first time I've seen Match-3 used in this way, which kinda goes to show just how effective it actually is as a mechanic. I played this for multiple rounds, I like how accessible it is.

I have not used either TIC-80 or PICO-8 so I have no idea how they actually work and what they offer in what quantities (other than what you already told about having the code on one page on TIC-80). But some more enemies and music would have gone a long way to keep me going for even longer.

All in all, it's a great entry. Very well done!

By the way, I had a bug where after dying and starting a new game, some "waves" forward the game just practically froze and I couldn't interact with anything anymore.

Getting combos in a match 3 game is way more satisfying when you are also beating up an enemy knight. Only criticism I can think of is that I wish the non-match-3 part of the game was a little more fleshed out. Maybe with a shop or some more varied types of enemies? Nice work!

Nicely done! Getting combos is the best feeling about this game.

Would have been nice, if you get a little energy refresh after defeating an enemy. It got really hard, as they become stronger over time.

I like that there is the additional purple card, after defeating some enemies. It feels like leveling up or something.

The only thing missing is an epic boss battle soundtrack. Other than that: Good job!

Looks interesting. Good job.
Maybe it's a good idea to change the engine and make the game more friendly - I mean to add control from a mouse and to add some more animations.
