Down the Bullet Hole by Justin Klinchuch

[raw]
made by Justin Klinchuch for Ludum Dare 47 (COMPO)

A simple, endless, twinstick shooter. Designed to be played with 2 analog sticks, but also works with keyboard controls.

I like the growing ball in the middle. Kind of a reverse battle royal type of thing.

Nice twist on the Geometry Wars concept. It's quite fun! Congrats! You could try implementing mouse support for next iteration? :p

I'm a big fan of bullet hells so I had a ton of fun with this game. I really enjoyed the variety of enemies and that there's actual level progression with the big growing circle in the middle. The only thing that I would've changed is using the mouse to aim and shoot instead of the arrow keys, since the keys limit the direction that you can shoot. Great job overall!

Thanks for the feedback folks! I'll definitely add mouse support if I take this further.

I think up and down are reversed (i'm not sure if it is intentional, but its very uncomfortable). Apart from the controls, the game looks nice and it could be very funny, it remembered me to old frenetic addictive games :). Great job!

Thanks for the heads up @neowedge the y axis is not intended to be inverted. It looks like it only occurs on the webGL port when playing with keyboard. I'll look into fixing it.

Love you sounds and concepts!

This big circle symbolises amount of problems that i'm facing in my adult life.

fun, but very hard to play on the keyboard, not enough control for the direction and you sometimes can't shoot them until they are very close

Cool action game:)

Sometimes enemies will spawn directly (or very close) to the player.

How about showing the player where the enemy is coming soon?
Or to make newly appeared enemies temporarily harmless?

Exactly as advertised. A simple, elegant twin-stick with good enemy variety and a high skill cap. Fairly basic in some respects, but what's there is fun and feels complete. Good work!

Smooth, fun and with very nice variety. Keyboard controls are a bit clumsy, but I tried it with a gamepad and it is really smooth. The looping animation is pretty cool. Nice!

One of the smoothest games this ldjam! I sadly did not have a gamepad, but it worked well with the keyboard too. Congratulations on completing your first ldjam
