A Song with a Catchy Chorus and a Solo by mrwonko
I mostly just wanted to get into composing and learn about music theory. This isn't so much a game as a music player that only has a "start" button you have to run into.
Known Issues
- You must start the game using start.bat or it will hang! (If that happens, press Alt+F4.)
- To exit, press Alt+F4. Pressing Escape causes the game to hang!
- There is no player model.
- The cursor is a grey square.
- There is some text without a font at the top of the screen. I don't know what it says, either. Ignore it.
About
This is really just a custom map for Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy, but I tried to quickly make it work standalone, which is where all the issues come from. If you have Jedi Academy, you can put the mrw_ld47.pk3 into your base folder and start the map by typing map mrw_ld47 into the console in single player.
The mrw_ld47.pk3 is just a zip file, you can unpack it to listen to the music without playing the game.

Critiquing the song itself, the things that most stand out to me (outside of whether the singing was in tune ):
* The song has the same C/G/A/F bass loop all throughout. Variety from verse to chorus would have made it more dynamic. (This critique also applies to the drums remaining the same throughout.)
* The verse melody seems to simply be following the bass notes. There are a few sections where you waver to other notes, I think, but generally it's the same note. The chorus vocal melody is a decent hook, but the verse not so much.
* There are no chords. With these bass notes you have the classic I V vi IV chord structure in C major ready for the taking.
* Props for the solo, I'm not even gonna critique that.
Down with capitalism. :fist:
