  • Didn't get as much done as I wanted as I was sick over the weekend, but was able to put something together. I also seem to have submitted to Jam rather than Compo, fun times.

There was no playtesting, everything is in a somewhat placeholder state as I just couldn't force myself to do it :(, and just gave up so I could get some rest.

The aim of the game is to stop the evil box people from escaping their city by employing some cute animals. If they escape, they will deliver slapped bottoms and broken purchases! Don't let it happen.

Theme was hamfisted in, had some more plans but couldn't get it done unfortunately.

An incremental(ish) TD(ish).

With that said, the controls when you get into the game are: - Click on a box to recruit a tower - Click on a recruited tower to upgrade / delete it - Click on 'Next Wave' button to generate a new wave - Click on Wave + button (bottom left) to increase number of enemies per wave - Click on Enemy + to increase HP and Gold value of enemies spawned

Score is the sum of damage done to enemies

Level: Arbitrary level of tower
Cost: The cost of upgrading either Damage, Attack Speed, or Projectile Move Speed
Damage: The amount of damage each tower projectile deals
Speed: The rate at which each tower project is fired
Move: The move speed of each tower projectile

Upgrade Enemies

Increases strength of enemies per wave (health and gold reward)

Health and Gold

0 Health will result in game over with a restart screen.

Gold is used to buy and upgrade towers as well as waves and enemies.

From what I understand it's better to always save money and put the cat. As his attack is guided, it ends up being worth putting him alone. The fish almost always seemed useless to me haha
It was a pleasant experience to play. The essence of tower defense is there!

@cabjhegas Yeah, I wasn't sure how it'd turn out and the balancing was non-existant. My aim was trying to make it so the cat was the best end-game. I think anything is viable with enough gold though... :turtle: is my favourite.

It look like you got a lot done in the time you had! I can see how balance didn't quite make it in though as the goldfish can solo anything from wave 1. That said, you implemented more than I would have expected out of a simple TD including cheats(!) and an autostart(!!) so I can see why you didn't have quite enough time. Solid game overall and I loved getting rewarded every now and again with voiced sound effects!

@wiredoverload Thanks for playing and the feedback. Yeah, it was one of those things where I realised half way through it was going to be a struggle but kept pushing. It honestly came together into a game in like the last 3hrs.

I'1m sorry to heart that you couldn't implement everything you wanted in time, but what's important is that you're doing well and not putting too much pressure on yourself or pushing yourself beyond your limits!
Congratulations anyway on the result you managed to bring, the gameplay is very fluid, the graphics are very cute, and the bg sound is very chill.
I'm not sure if it was in your plans, but I missed having a button to speed up the gameplay when the wave is passing (like in Bloons TD) and more sound feedback from the enemies' SFX and our cute animals.

I completely forgot to add buttons for speeding up/down, the logic is there but it completely slipped my mind when finishing it up! I'll add it into a post-jam version.

Very addicting!

A tower defence game with simple mechanics, but overall a fun gameplay.
I found all the buttons a bit confusing and overwhelming in the beginning but learned quickly what they did.

I ended up using mainly goldfishes with their high base attack speed and penetrating projectiles while only increasing their damage, as the other stats have very negligible returns in terms of gold spent.

Good job!

Solid TD game, could do with having some type of goal/variation of wave types so it doesn't become so static, but considering I've sat 30+min with it, I have to say it is satisfying even in it's current state.

I had fun with this, I generally like TD games and this was a fun one. I think some of the HP is either buggy or maybe I just wasn't following, but there were times where I was pretty sure I should have lost but didn't take any damage.

You're pretty hard on yourself, but the polish is pretty solid. I like the CRT filter, and the music is pretty good, too. I wrote off the goldfish at first, until I realized it had an insane rate of fire, and real magikarp power once you invest in its damage.

love this game ,spent a lot time on this ,while I think some data so not reasonable,5 gold to buy a speed from 2 to 1.98? and there is not enough coins to upgrade at all!! but it is a good game,good job ,wish for more content of this game

really cool and polished game. however, sometimes the fish has a bug where it fires randomly and then just stops firing. i reached level 41 only losing one health before i realized i should work on something else. addicting and cool game :)

Great game! I noticed a bug while playing: if you have 4x game speed and you place new "tower", the tower projectiles are still at 1x speed, so enemies just walk past them unharmed.
Apart from that, this was a smooth game jam experience. Thank you!

Cool, lots of nice TD mechanics in place, even if thigns aren't quite finished, it's still pretty addicting to build and upgrade stuff and push the limits of your defense, well done!

Lovely tower defence. I had a great time with the self-made sounds; matched nicely with the art style. The game was too easy though. Basically, I kept buying and upgrading randomly and went unharmed for 15 minutes. Still, I had a great time.
