Number of the Beast by LDJam user 267116
A horror game about following byzantine instructions in service of your corporate overlords.
Note: This game requires reading and patience. Not to put too fine a point on it but friction is a desired element of the design!

I will say that the gameplay was very compelling to me but fairly tedious. It would be extremely useful if you spent some time making selecting and organizing the slides easier. I don't mind the complicated instructions. It fits very well with the theming of everything, but once I put slides on the projector and then found an instruction that modified it, it was extremely difficult to select the right slide again.
Also, in terms of word-choice, I wasn't sure for a while if "included" meant included on the projector or included in the package of slides that I was given, which made getting started really difficult.
Overall, if anyone is reading the comments, give this a shot and stick with it long enough to truly understand what it's doing. There is a really great logic puzzle hidden behind some daunting instructions here!
Nice job!
I would love to see where you take it / how you improve it going forwards :)
please can you rate my game too? :)
On the other hand, the graphics looked cohesive, and the concept was really good! with a bit of simplification to the checking the book and seeing what you have the game would be even better, nice work!
Overall, I had a good time and exercised my brain for 2 hours, thanks!
- Supper hard to understand what is asked of the player, I had a hard time figuring out how to switch the view
- I would align the glyphs so that I could read them, but then when I fail, they get reset and I have to do all of that all over again just so I can read
tedious detail that you have to keep in your head. I suppose for programmers that's
basically part of the job description, but it's interesting to see it leveraged for horror
purposes.
Having a game with a lot of detail in it like this also seems like it'd be super hard to pull off in
the time limit. In spite of that, you've managed to have good sound design,
decent graphics, and a satisfying ending. Good job!
