Hop or Stop by winniehell

made by winniehell for Ludum Dare 49 (JAM)

After a long day, you just want to get home. As usual, though, your path is riddled with deep chasms, tall cliffs, and bottomless pits. Temple.png

Luckily, there's also plenty of stuff lying around that for whatever reason, nobody seems to need. Don't ask why, just use it! ShadoTemple.png

This game is divided into two phases: First, rearrange the objects in the level so that you might overcome the obstacles. Cave.png

In the movement phase, run! And jump. But mainly run. And hope that the architectural masterpieces you just created don't collapse. Office.png

The idea seems fine, but I had a problem with pieces being to small. Hence, there is a lot of them to move and it feels like a chore. Also a hotkey for switching between the building and moving modes could improve the flow a lot.

@gasgiant Thank you for playing our game and for your feedback!

We realized some items were too small to grab but ran out of time implementing a zoom function but we totally get you frustration there. :grimacing:

There actually is a hotkey for switching between construction and movement phase (enter) but I will make sure to add it to the game description.

Fun idea. It fits the theme perfectly. Music is also very well done

I like the concept here. I agree with the above comment. Some of the pieces are just too small and feel tedious to move around. I think a couple of small ones here and there is good, but I'm definitely more interested in the big pieces. I liked the music. It provided a nice contrast between construction and movement. Also I noticed that the camera controls are A and D, but the game says A and W.

I think this game has tons of potential, I love the idea of just being able to grab all the little bits and move them around. I did find the bits a bit too small though and had trouble moving and rotating them and getting them where I wanted. Something that might work quite well is a way to snap them to a grid - just to make it slightly less effort. Overall I think with a bit more polish this could be a really good game. Very impressed with what was done in the timeframe!

I also like the idea. Rotating the objects feels a bit weird, same with having to move the camera in the last level, but I still enjoyed playing the game.
