Delivery Rock by geck0

Hello guys! This is my 10th entry: Delivery Rock. The first one in 5 years!!

Theme
Just a delivery game. I tried to be original with the transport. It's just a holed rock. Yes... a rock with a hole where you can save things in.

Description
You are a prehistoric transporter who has to deliver the resources that are requested from the caves.
First you have to get the materials, felling trees or crushing stones, and then deliver them. Carrying wood and stone is very heavy and you are very slow. Luckily, you have a big holey rock where you can store everything and roll it to where you need it!

Controls
- Movement: WASD/arrows or left stick (gamepad) (Sorry French people, I forgot to set Z to move up and Q to move left for AZERTY players)
- Gather resource: E or X (gamepad) (HOLD IT or push it 5 times)
- Drop resource: SPACE or A (gamepad)
Using the Rock: - Store something: SPACE or A (gamepad) near of it. - Get something stored: E or X (gamepad) near of it. (Use again to get a different stored resource)

TO-DO List
This is my "TO DO" list that I could not finish:
- More resources: Fruits and maybe rope.
- Bushes to get fruits and ropes.
- Crafting: Craft Axe, Pick and Spear with these materials to deliver them.
- Show tasks at the top of the screen, maybe with arrows indicating the direction of each cave.

I like the twist on the caveman doing a delivery. It is very unique!
I can see how with multiple levels you can expand on complexity.
The best part of the game for me was the animation. Great walk and work cycles.
One area that could be improved was the camera. The instructions kept moving off screen for me!
Anyway it was a great game! Have an a great Ludum Dare! :)
When I cut trees or collect stones, there is a chance that I will maintain this action and then I won't be able to do anything!
And then I fell through the ground...

Oh and I think I know what causing animation being stuck (and actually it kills the ability to interact for me completely too) - it happened to me multiple times when I was mashing E repeatedly trying to gather resource. Had no issues as soon as I started to just hold E for it.
Other than those issues (and NextLevel being without space ;p), game was really smooth! Stone, maybe, a bit too light and was knocked a bit too far by me, but its okay. Idea is neat too. Music was great and artstyle was impressive.
I also really apreciated those tutorial messages at start. They were neat and on-point (need dwelling timers first time you see them though!). Game is fun overal :)
I know that bug (@leking, @nuin, @batisdark), I thought it was fix last minutes but I see it don't >_<. Is it fair to fix that and re-upload the game? or people should rate my game with this glitch?
@austin-sierra The main idea about the orders window was put them in the top of the screen (like Overcooked). But that task was in the end of the pile and I had not time to do it >_<
Maybe I should have put "holding" instead of "pressing" in the controls, my english sux sorry >_<
Rolling the rock around was a real challenge and I thought it very amusing that you could struggle with hauling around logs and stones and then just shove the gigantic rock around as if it were a ping pong ball.
Where it fell a little flat for me was the time limits felt too generous for the speed of collecting resources, so I didn't feel any huge *need* to use the rock to transport materials around or optimize my pathing to be more efficient. I still wanted to use the rock because it was fun, but I don't feel there was much of a challenge as far as completing deliveries went.
Still, I had fun with it! Really nicely done!
My main wish is that some of the UI elements were not in the World Space but were instead on the screen - that way I could see what items were needed, how much time I had, and what was inside the rock. That way, I could feel like I'm planning a bit more. But the physics goofiness of it and gameplay was really fun - great job!
Thanks for playing my game and giving me this feedback! :)
Really impressed with the art style though, incredibly impressive to do all that in such a small time frame.

@yuriscat I love it haha. It is an honor for me that someone spends their time to create an image for my game!
I do think maybe one less hit to gather and making it so the rock doesn't roll away and do its own thing would be good but outside of that it felt very relaxing to play! A mode without timers to just switch off to would probably have me zoning out to it!
Great job on the music btw, it was so jolly and fitting! Really well done!
Well done !
