I HAVE NO BRAKES AND I MUST VROOM by jelch

[raw]
made by jelch for Ludum Dare 59 (JAM)

VROOOM VROOOOOM!!

Microphone and headphones recommended (if you play the web version, remember to allow microphone access in the browswer!)

Drive your truck thing!

Features a level editor that I had hoped would make development easier but ended up taking too much time!

It can be hard to control your car sometimes, maybe that's a me problem, I'm not exactly the one who likes to scream loud but overall that was fun. The graphics somehow remind me some old pc games like neighbours from hell. And plus one point just for the name, great reference!

The title got me hooked certainly, great reference :D The game looks so trippy, I admire it. The pure absurd of me making outerworldy noises to move a vehicle looking like a manifested, unprocessed, raw electrical input from brain... joy. I do not care for controls, even if its wacky its the wackiest in best way possible it should be for the thing I am experiencing

I used a mouse wheel so no mic. It is fun and very easy, love the heavy music and it vibes me gravity defied

Fun gameplay, loved it!

Great that you added level editor, that was unexpected! I would more appreciate more levels, ofc :)

Lol what a weird idea, I love it. I had fun screaming at my PC, but especially the level where you only had to do multiple quiet vrooms was nice. I couldn't figure out what the actual difference between frequency and volume mode is though.

The game has a very unusual aesthetic, I like it! The fact you added a very functional level editor is really cool too. Well done!

Haha, what is this! Played with mouse wheel and the controls seem pretty random, often I'm not entirely sure if anything I do really affects the game or not, but I did manage to get to level 5 I think? Then, suddenly, my car started floating and the front wheel drifted far away to the right, then my screen turned gray and nothing happened. At the bottom of the console, there was this error:

![index-out-of-bounds.png](///raw/ea2/91/z/73089.png)

Not sure if related or perhaps that was there before already.

Either way, hilarious idea, I love the title, the graphics are a real fever dream and I'll now give this another go to see if I can get past this level without my car falling victim to demonic possession.

Edit: I played again, and this time the game crashed one level earlier (the one where the floor is ~4 large rotating wheels), and also in this level the FPS dropped to about 1, which was not the case on my first playthrough. At least this time my car didn't start floating and expanding ominously. :D

couldnt get mic to work so couldnt vroom (totally forgivable for an experimental jam feature) but i love the premise and especially the art
