The Fall of Squidy by ealhche

[raw]
made by ealhche for Ludum Dare 48 (COMPO)

my first game with music! click and drag to shoot/move. It is all explained in the game.

I am most likely going to keep working on this, so look for it if you want.

Menu blasted out my ear drums but it was pretty fun to play, checkpoints would've been nice!

I really enjoyed this one. I really liked the game mechanics.

Music is pleasant, controls are good and the game was fun to play. A kill count would've been a nice addition so that the player has a goal to beat on each playthrough. Nice work

Love the music, and the sfx 5/5 Audio for sure. I liked the slow motion effect when you're aiming the jump. Wasn't really a need to deal with the enemies, i guess the bottom up approach is so you don't get cornered when falling. Great job!

A simple mechanic but it works very well. The slow-down when you're preparing to fire is very slick. My only real criticism is that (as has been mentioned) the sound is a little too loud. I'll be excited to see where you go with it!

This is really neat! I love how smoothly it plays, and the slow motion feature works super super well. Unfortunately I'm also rather bad at it, but I really enjoyed trying to see how quickly I could whip through the early stages. Nice work!

Huzzah, I made it the end! Nice mechanic, I can feel the attention to detail there! As someone mentioned, a checkpoint system would be a welcome addition. I think separating the time-slow and the slingshot into two buttons might also be good, to reduce mouse click spamming.

That was great! I really loved the art for the main character, it's so cute! The music was really nice too. Those elements made it really easy to keep trying until I got to the end. It took me a couple dozen tries, but I was enjoying it the whole time so I didn't mind. Great job!

Really fun game! It was very hard and I think it would be better with a score counter for killing enemies, but other than that, it was a very fun game.

Nice little mini game ^^ The mechanic was really well made :) The music was a little loud, but was alright ^^ More enemies would have been really, too ^^ The graphics were quite cute. Good Job :)

Good game overall, interesting mechanics that worked well. My main suggestion: currently there is no incentive for killing enemies. This idea of kill them from below only is interesting, but I have zero incentive to risk my life just to kill an enemy that is already behind.

I think the launch mechanic is an excellent idea. I'd love to see you pursue this idea with more levels built around that mechanic. Nice work.

This was really fun and satisfying! I laughed at the death sound effect :joy:

I also have to agree with others here in that, I did not really understand the point of defeating enemies (although it is satisfying to quickly dash down, and then dash up slightly to take one out on the way down).

Overall I really enjoyed this and would love to see it expanded!

It took me a moment to figure out that I can slow down time mid air and plan my next jump.

Nice and fun, though starting over every time sucked and prevented me from making any meaningful progress.

Good job!

Cool concept, congrats on your entry :)
I think the idea works well, it has good potential, especially on mobile. I would have loved to see:
- some kind of reward when killing enemies
- maybe a timer or a lesser slow mo when preparing a move, to increase the difficulty (otherwise it's a bit easy to just wait indefinitely for the right moment to move next to an enemy)
- some reward/shop/stuff to do in the secret rooms :)
