What is happening to me?

You took a funny looking pill and now there are creatures chasing you.
Luckily you have your little red cannon on you. It's bullet is designed to be re-usable, which is good because you only have one shot. Try not to lose it.

Objective

Strange creatures are chasing you, survive for as long as possible!
Take aim and shoot your enemies. But be careful, you only have one bullet! Be sure to collect it after each shot to be able to fire again.
Try to get the highest score!

As usual, we worked on actual game content way too close to the deadline, so we didn't have time to thoroughly playtest and tweak the game. It's playable at least. Hopefully 🤷
We'll release a v1.0.1 post-jam version ~~soon~~ to improve the core gameplay.

Update: v1.0.1 released with fixes and tweaks, improving playability greatly!
See the [changelog] for all changes and fixes.

Whoa, that's a crazy camera. It looks like it gets more extreme the longer the game runs, even if you start a new game, so I was restarting the whole game in between runs.

I like the core concept! It would be cool if you could more reliably ricochet the bullet between enemies.

I dont really understand what it means. But the art style and music is really great!!!

@caeonosphere
Good catch! That's one of the bugs of the jam version
The inconsistently buggy ricocheting is another bug
Both are fixed in the upcoming v1.0.1 patch :) (it's way more fun with the fixes haha)
Thanks for the feedback!

@noodlestorm
I think it means: I spent too much time goofing around with animations instead of prioritizing the gameplay and playtesting haha
Thanks for playing!

Movement is good. Couldn't shoot :/
(I tried version 1.1)

Felt pretty juicy and the aiming animations were super smooth, loved the music. Made me feel a little motion sick from the wobblyness but it did look cool

I like the mechanic of having to collect your bullet. However every other shot it would go flying super fast and was really hard to track down. I also didn't like that if I shot at the same moment enemies spawned, the bullet would almost always get completely swarmed by enemies and thus become unrecoverable. I also noticed that enemies don't spawn when I restart the game :stuck_out_tongue:. Other than that very solid and unique game.

@revetoon to shoot, you need to hold down an aim direction (arrow keys) while shooting (space). Maybe I should mention that!

@exludos sorry about the motion sickness 😅 I was actually planning on adding ingame settings to disable the animations for that reason, but didn't get around to it. But now it's back on my priority list! I'll try to release a v1.0.2 patch with settings to turn off animations in the coming days!
Thanks for your feedback!!

@ludumdaredevil yeah, sadly the v1.0.0 jam release had those bugs 😅 feel free to check out the patch v1.0.1 to see how it should have played :)
Thanks for your feedback!

Creative mechanic of chasing down your projectile to collect it and fire again. I lost once when my ball got engulfed in a horde of baddies where I couldn't get it. 😂

Thank you for the linux build !
My bullet got kidnaped by the crowed, so I couldn't kill people anymore :(
But I love the music and the mood ! So cool !

Wow, great SFX, VFX, and gameplay! I really liked the idea of having to go and collect your ammo after shooting it. I got to a point where my ammo got surrounded and I just had to run away. Nice work!

Like a 'You only have one' entry from Ludum Dare 28 (that was my first ever!).

Thanks for some nostalgia

It's a really cool concept! I think i found a bug tho, my player died and nothing was going on so i used the pause button to go back to the menu, and when i restarted the enemies just wouldn't spawn, i walked around for 2 entire minutes and couldn't find a single one, but overall great game!

In the beginning, I was scared to touch the enemies, but it turned out I needed to be surrounded to lose, that way it felt very forgiving!

I played v1.0.1.

Vibe & music go hard.

Love the way the bullet tumbles and warps as it moves, that looks great.
I wish it was a little easier to find opportunities to ricochet the bullet into other enemies; with how they clump up, it just turned into me shooting at the crowd and killing them one by one, which isn't quite as satisfying.

I wonder what it'd be like if enemies clumping together combined them into larger enemies?

And to answer the question: yes 😉💊
